The ball hit the frame of the racquet imparting an under spin and since the timing was (unintentionally) perfect it gave a good under spin on the ball. It made Chardy look foolish but this was unintentional. The more difficult part is to try imparting such spin on the ball from the face of the racquet. If you type federer on youtube you may get hundreds of amazing shots from unbelievable angles by this master. The best shot i remember is the shot he played around the side of net against a thailand player.

Youtube is a post 2005 invention so lets not judge a player by number of Youtube clips.

And Roger would've long since gone past 20 slams if he didnt run into the greatest claycourt player the world has ever seen. Roger is also as humble and good natured as they come.
