The team fighting back in the 2nd innings. NEGATIVES Dhoni showing favouritism toward some players like Ishant, Ashwin, Rohit, Zaheer while ignoring some others like Umesh, Mishra, etc. Dhoni's tactically weak and not so sharp captaincy. Bad batting by Dhoni. Zaheer losing fitness and pace. Ishant Sharma being irreplaceable, no matter what he bowls. Lack of a spinner who can turn the ball on any surface. No out and out quick in the playing 11.

Would reprimand him and tell him to kiss the surface and aim for top of off. Thats what good leaders do. Create great fighting team unit. Bring the best out of players, even make ordinary ones competititve!! Make ordinary teams competitve and fight to death. Just imagine what a good leader could do woth seriuously talneted players, if instaled fight, aggression and competitiveness!

He was behind Ishant in terms of wickets. Same as Zak but lacks experience ) Yadav ( Everyone knows he is out of form . Plus, we cannot take someone who us not performing in domestics ) Pandey ( Dhoni stated in an interview that he is not yet ready for international cricket ) Aaron ( Too injury prone . Zaheer needs to go and both Pandey and Bhuvi need to play. Unfortunately it would not happen as the brain dead captain is in perpetual state of comatose.

ThePhenomenal1 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 you dont need more batsmen. 1-6 should be solid batsmen, which dhoni is not and hence he needs to leave. Jadeja at 7 providing he takes more responsibility and takes wickets. Ashwin is useless right now. Better he is benched and works hard on his game. YOU NEED QUALITY FAST BOWLERS. Zak and Ishant have to be 'rested' so that the better crop can take foot and I can bet that pandey and yadav would have been a handful. All the bowlers went for runs 1st innings so you cannot say that Yadav would leak runs. The fact that we could not take 10 wkts cost us in Joburg, durban and now Auckland. It's costing us in ODIs!
Ultimate_Game Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I think one of the reasons we struggle so much away from home is due to lack of a decent pace bowling all-rounder which screws up the balance of the team. At home we can afford to play Jaddu and Ashwin which bolsters our batting and they can pick wkts but away from home we can't do that. If only we had the same Irfan we had way back in 2003-04 we wouldn't have lost this Test and even won the 1st Test against SA. We need someone who can bowl seam and contribute with the bal at 7 or 8. Every decent team has such a player - Watson for Aus, Anderson for NZ, Kallis & Philander for SA etc. Plus our tail is p**s poor to boot. If we don't get a half-decent seam bowling all-rounder we will struggle big time in next year's WC coz Ashwin & Jaddu are not the answers on Aus pitches.
