And how many times have Bangladesh test matches filled stadium to even 30%? When even their fans dont care about test cricket why should the teams should? Heck if am not mistaken BCb doesnt even have a proper first class tournament.

I think cricket is still played only in a dozen countries is mainly due to lack of money to develop the game in the last 50 years. Even now the full member take out 75% of the ICC profits leaving just 25% to the associates. Why are these full test nations, which are supposed to be developed cricketwise, still depend on handouts? If we maintain this, we will probably be still left with no more than 9 cricketing nations 50 years from now.

If you are good enough play well and get promoted. Why should you have a free ticket to test status?

How the hell can you have a two-tier system where 3 of the teams can't get relegated?? How long can you sell the 'its more profitable having these teams' argument? Could you really enjoy cricket if India just got its ****-pounded day in, day out, because they're not good enough to be in a division they're stuck in? What would happen next? They'll attempt to the change the game to suit India again. Once you've given them the control, that's the end of that, they can change face whenever they please and who'll stop them?

What if England go back to what they were like in the 90's and teams like NZ or Pak get better? Does that mean that England can't be relegated? It sure does, and its a joke

BeautifulGame Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may yesterday have signed a death warrant for cricket in the country. BCB directors voted 20-3 in favour of supporting the draft proposal which will be tabled at the next International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting on 28-29 January, a proposal that will bring about a massive upheaval in Bangladesh cricket. If the proposal -- brought forward by India, Australia and England -- is adopted, as things stand, Bangladesh will not play Tests for eight years. After eight years of playing four-day cricket against Associate Member nations, if they finish on top of the eight-team ranking field they will play the bottom-ranked team of the top tier in Tests (which they would not have played for eight years) for a chance at a promotion. If India, England and Australia (who according to the proposal cannot be relegated) form the three lowest teams in the top tier, then Bangladesh will have to face the fifth-ranked side. The impossibility of the situation is that the progress that Bangladesh have so far made has largely been due to them playing top-ranked opposition. If the proposal is adopted they will be playing against lower-ranked opposition and so scope for improvement outside the top eight will be improbable. The cricket eco-system is a fragile one with the few countries at the top needing to play each other -- with all the different conditions each country offers -- to stay competitive. The proposal will also remove power from the ICC and therefore any semblance of accountability of the top boards. It stands to harm cricket as a whole, but Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe, will be the swiftest and most tragic casualties. BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon hinted that when voting in favour of the draft proposal they took the long-term future of the game in account, citing reasons such as appeasing the powerful boards in order to gain future favours. So if the relegation clause is the biggest issue why havent any board yet questioned or criticized it? So far all the board officials (CSA PCB SLC BAN WI) only commented about the revenue distribution yet no one said anything about the relegation clause. Whether one likes it or not the the smaller nations (NZL SLC other) need this safetly more than the big 3.India Aus and Eng will continue to ply each other regardless of their quality and it will continue to generate revenue.In 90s when England was the worst and Aus the best eam still Ashes was as popular as ever.Its more to with the interest of the fans. But smaller boards cant sell their broadcast rights without guarantee of tours from India Aus and ECB.

The divided opinions are on the revenue distribution model, wonder why some are combining both and getting confused.
