Ultimate_Game Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I find it strange that folks have no issues with UN having a veto for 5 nations but when India, Aus & Eng try to do the same in a sport all hell breaks loose. This is the way of the world - powerful will have more say. MCC used to run world cricket earlier along with ACB but people were ok with the same. So now when India has emerged as the strongest financial superpower in world cricket, I don't see why people should make such a big hue and cry. After all you don't expect an entity generating nearly 80% of the global cricketing revenue to have a minimal say. In corporate world if you have an organization where a stakeholder owns 80% of the said organization, nobody would bat an eyelid if the stakeholder did what he/she deemed fit so why should things be any different with ICC? For folks who are so riled up at the perceived injustice I suggest they fight for a bigger cause, i.e. why is UN veto in the hands of just 5 nations? Why not everyone have equal say there especially when it has a much bigger impact on the world than ICC ever will. I don't like BCCI much and can't wait for BCCi to be ridden of Srinivasan but you can't argue against the BCCI calling the shots at ICC (along with ECB and CA). The biggest money makers and more powerful entities do the same in every walk of life so why should cricket be any different?

So why didnt India win more often if they are so good? Only Australia have the track record to throw their weight around. you are England fan right, what has English soccer team won since 1966 and why do premier league and English Fans act if they are some kind of world soccer power???? they are more horrible in soccer than India is in cricket. WTF has England won anything in cricket in world stage other than one lousy T-20 cup, Indians have won plenty otherwise the game would not be so popular in India.

Is BCCI preventing Pakistan from playing England or Australia or any other team for that matter, those teams dont want to play Pakistan because it is a loss for them on many fronts. PCB and bangladesh can play all the series they want no one is stopping them . PCB and Pakistanis were fine when controlled by England and Australia but it is only when BCCI comes into picture they get their egos hurt. How can PCB take money given to them due to BCCI by ICC and tell BCCI what to do ? If you were BCCI what would you do. Why should bcci/ICC support all the corruption of PCB by feeding it money. Same thing happens every April, we hear all kind of nonsense spouting from PCB and its players regarding IPL, playing in IPL is not a birthright but a privilege for Pakistanis . The only difference I see is India calling the shots and suddenly all these issues have sprung up when everything was peachy keen earlier.

Nobody has short memories and it's all about whether you get an opportunity to call the shots. BCCI has and will do so just as PCB would have if they had the chance. That's the way of the world and will continue and expecting cricketing world to be any different is naive in the extreme.

Same thing applies to them also my friend, CSA is running cricket in a country which is predominantly black and yet their representation in their national team is so limited But those people who are running cricket in CSA are doing exactly what they are preaching ICC/ BCCI and other two boards not to do it.They are running cricket in their country as an elite sport which is predominantly a white man's game and black cricketers are an exception rather than a rule there. It has been more than two decades since they got reintegrated and how come there are so few Black cricketers playing in their national team.

I am simply stating what happens at all levels - be it business or corporation, governments or at a global level (UN). Anyone who has worked at any level anywhere in the world would understand this universal fact. So why this outrage? Life is not fair and some folks are more equal than others. Same universal principle being followed in this case.

Yes BCCI along with many other boards suffered under Imperial cricket conference where the game was dominated by two teams even though from 1970s till mid 80s, they both were lousy team and England has been lousy team for much longer and still is a lousy team. All Asian boards should be self sufficient just due to their enormous populations and viewerships they get but that is not case in three countries due to political situations and corruption. Corruption is rampant in BCCI too but the BCCI so far has been run by people who do care about sport some what unlike other three countries.
