From TOI, Q was: You played your last Test against India. What are your views about the Indian bowling attack?

The Indian bowling attack is not bad. I feel that sometimes away from home they battle with what length to bowl. I also feel maybe they should have included someone with real pace in South Africa rather than relying just on swing.
Ishant - pace? Nope. Zak - pace? Nope. (Still an indian icon but was ineffective, shouldnt be in the 11 atm) Where the hell was/is yadav? Don't get why he is never picked for the format he was supposedly preserved for. Anyways, if India don't play Yadav and back him, they are total dumb@sses!

I am all for Yadav/Shami/Aaron... but they are not very consistent.. Aaron and Shami showed that in ODIs.. Yadav is more or less the same. Wonder what coaches are doing...

You can't always be consistent right away. And shami, aside from this nz tour has been consistent. As long as coaching is there and talent are backed and shown the way, no reason why they can't improve. Would we rather have consistently beaten and walloped VK and Ishant? Of course not. And yeah, a new bowling coach, and new management is needed

Yadav,Shami,Aaron should be our test bowlers.I don't think they have played together in a match. They all can bowl with 140 speed.I would like to see them together in the England series

I haven't seen Yadav having a bad test, he's inconsistent only in ODIs. Shami hasn't had a bad test either. Shouldn't count ODI form in tests especially for fast bowlers.

Umesh, Shami, Pandey, Jadeja should be our attack. Zaheer is 34 and he can't keep up the same performance for long. His bowling looked innocuous in 2nd test against SA and he looked very tired and was ambling in without any purpose or energy. Its time to look beyond him. Selecting him just for his experience will be a blunder just like what happened in SA series. Some people say Umesh is wayward but you can get away with 1 or 2 wayward deliveries in tests. What matters is to pick wickets in tests and he is a strike bowler who is capable of bowling some good deliveries which can swing or reverse at pace. Only a fool will not play him in a test because of economy rate. Also, the more he bowls the more confident he will get and his line and length will get better. Back the talent in your side and they will deliver rather than play it safe.

Umesh, Shami , Pandey and Jadeja should form our overseas tests bowling attack. Replacements if injured Aaron for Umesh Dhawal for Shami Pankaj for Pandey We should replace a bowler with a similar type, not just anybody.

I would give more chances to Varun before introducing Pandey.

Everyone saying Yadav isnt consistent needs to look at Rohit Raina Ashwin. Rohit Raina Ashwin get UNLIMITED opportunities. Yadav has never been given a proper ODI run.

Varun has to prove a lot more, both in terms of fitness and wicket taking ability to prove he is a good test prospect. He should be in ODI team for sure and I think he is more suited for shorter version.

As far as the hype with fast bowlers goes, every side needs a consistent hard working bowler to plug an end. SAF has Philander / Kallis, England has Bresnan / Tremlett / Finn, NZ has many, Pakistan has Bilawal Bhatti, Aussies have Harris and even SL has Kulasekara to do it. Inida don't have that deadly accurate bowler tocomplement spray guns. You can afford a spray gun if other bowlers bowl tight only. Any side cannot afford two of them.
