India-KXIP fan Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Play Shami, Ishwar, Aaron next game. Drop Bhuvi even though he was okay he at best can be okay but Aaron has potential to be more if he gets into some form and some confidence behind him. In the long term would be better to give Aaron a run. Aaron should be able to run through Afghanistan hacks. Hope he gains confidence there. Hopefully he plays that game for the confidence
nsareen Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 i would love to see Varun Aaron injure more people, with genuine bouncers than beamers... if he can achieve that on these wickets, i'll personally butcher the article on cricinfo..
Lord Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 that's where the team management's role comes in' date=' they should give the confidence to the bowlers to express themselves more other than contain the teams below 300... they should ONLY TELL THEM TO BE AGGRESSIVE AND GO FOR WICKETS.. TO HELL WITH RUNS... TO HELL WITH RESULTS.. THIS TOURNAMENT means NOTHING...[/quote'] that approach works in Test matches, not ODIs.Ofcourse this tournament means more than giving practice to a young bowler
nsareen Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 that approach works in Test matches' date='not ODIs.Ofcourse this tournament means more than giving practice to a young bowler[/quote'] It indeed does, i wouldn't say "practice" rather i would say "experience"... Lets face the facts, even Afghanistan would be no pushovers... it'll be experience for him whether it is Afghanistan or Pakistan. Sadly this approach has been used by other teams other than india. India used it with Dhoni's fav. players but that's it.

nsareen Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Bhuvi is doing well.was unlucky last game that a catch was dropped.makes no sense to drop him I would say rest shami & play Binny instead of one of Rahane / Rayudu.. he can be a useful bowler on these sticky wickets, and batting is always a +
India-KXIP fan Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 He's not gonna learn alot in the 1 hour net session India has. He's not gonna learn alot bullying Ranji batsmen who have never faced proper pace before. He will learn alot by bowling here even though on these flat wickets, he will have to learn to survive. But he needs Kohli's full backing and understanding that he may go for runs in some games but in other games he may become the difference maker even if it's just 1 game out of the 5. Aaron has pace so at least there's something to work with to develop a bowler for the long term unlike the other trundlers who will be mediocre at best.

India used it with Dhoni's fav. players but that's it. In this form, the only experience he will get is getting hammered especially against big teams. He should play against Afghans otherwise even for him its better to rest a think where's he going wrong and work on it in the nets

Stuart Broad did very well to come out of 6 sixes... and there are many such instances for references.. but there isnt much time to hide him and choose to play him...

India-KXIP fan Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Bhuvi is doing well.was unlucky last game that a catch was dropped.makes no sense to drop him Well my opinion of Bhuvi is what many people's opinion of Aaron is... I think he won't develop into a wicket taking bowler or one that can contain runs at death because of his lack of pace and it's not worth it to invest in him for future.
Lord Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Agree.. need to give him a tournament or two before flagging him as a failure... Its not about writing him off, even if hes dropped in a game or two it means he has potential but has things to improve upon.I'd say keep him in the squad and let him work with coach etc. But the XI has to be picked on merit which has best chance of winning in conditions, especially against big teams and if he doesnt fit,so be it.If Pandey too fails bring him back, but atm Pandey deserves chance ahead of him

Stuart Broad did very well to come out of 6 sixes... and there are many such instances for references.. but there isnt much time to hide him and choose to play him... Broad was dropped too if I'm not wrong.dropping doesnt mean writing him off forever but recognising that he has issues to work on and that he doesn't fit in best XI in given conditions
nsareen Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Broad was dropped too if I'm not wrong.dropping doesnt mean writing him off forever but recognising that he has issues to work on and that he doesn't fit in best XI in given conditions Agreed, but sadly in the Indian setup, once you are dropped it is so tough for somebody who has not yet established a name for himself to make a comeback, there are numerous instances to prove this theory, keeping this in mind, i'm against dropping him, other than that if they are ready to give him confidence of working hard and be assured of a comeback then that be it, but unfortunately doesn't work here my friend..

rkt.india Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 not good coming from somebody who we all thought supported fast bowling to the core.. disappointed... I am not asking him to dropped from the team. I saw the match his bowling and he looked roughened after Anamul hit him for 2 sixes coming down the track. He could not recover after that. He needs bit of break to analyze what he needs to do and nets is the best thing when you struggled to make amends. He can get back in XI in next match or next. He did not look in complete rhythm. I am worried more because he went for runs in one of corporate trophy match as well, bowled well in 1. SO it means lacking consistency with his new tweaked action.
CSK Fan Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Well my opinion of Bhuvi is what many people's opinion of Aaron is... I think he won't develop into a wicket taking bowler or one that can contain runs at death because of his lack of pace and it's not worth it to invest in him for future. Yeah, even though his death bowling has improved day by day and he usually gives half the runs of any other bolwer in death and lesser than Shami, he wont improvep because you say so BTW, did you even see the match, he was bowling at 135-139 kph, so much for lack of pace BTW, giving away 40-50 runs per 10 overs when teams are scoring 300+ is not just ok, it is great performance, at it saves around 20 runs there itself
urbestfriend Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Dont put too much pressure on the young kid, he is good enough to play ODI cricket if he doesnt want to experiment too much and bowl stumps to stumps line. He will be a force in the pitches that offer little bit of bounce. Please lets not go back to Ishant once again. But I think he has long way to go if he wants to become part of test team with his strength and fitness.
