yoda Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 There are other options for the EU and the US than going for an all out war for the sake of Crimea. Some of them include expulsion from G8. I think EU and Russia will reach a compromise. Already there was talk between German Chancellor and Putin to setup a commission to study the issues and propose a compromise solution. Last thing the world needs is the US/EU firing missiles at Moscow.
Muloghonto Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Putin knows Obama is a pu$ because he's proved it over and over again when dealing with Russia or Russian backed rulers - Obama failed to act when Iranians attempted a revolt against their Russian backed leaders Obama did nothing again during the Georgian-Russian war Obama stood bye and watched the Russian backed Syrian regime massacre tens of thousands Obama impotent again as Putin seizes Crimea and threatens the rest of Ukraine Buttaahh ... the one thing Obama can do take out a bunch of villagers, their goat and a couple of chickens with drone missiles and then give a nice speech about it :two_thumbs_up: Russia is the 2nd most powerful military in the world and still, to this day,has more nukes than anyone else. I am glad a 'pussy' like Obama is running the US government and not a 'brave idiot' like you, since most would agree, that taking direct military action against a nuclear-armed superpower should come only if direct military threats are presented against your nation. Not to bail out any Tom, Dick and Harry. I am sure Khruschev was a 'pussy' for not attacking America when America declared war against Vietnam, I am sure Gorbachev was a 'pussy' for letting America stomp all over Granada, Yeltsin was a 'pussy' for letting America stomp iraq and Putin too must've been a pussy for not coming to Saddam's aid and attacking America when his dear ally was deposed in Iraq. WTF is Obama supposed to do ? Attack Russia ? Thats WWIII. One looks for excuses to avoid WWIII and so far 'they are not attacking us' is a bloody good excuse!

Last thing the world needs is the US/EU firing missiles at Moscow. Germans are ahead of the game. They know that Russia doesnt give a **** because nobody will be dumb enough to attack Russia and all this talk of G8 expulsion will be temporary at best because of Russia's 'Gazprom card' to the EU. So, they are trying a compromise. My prediction is Crimea becomes independent and then joins Russia.

alexander Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Europe can ill afford another prolonged stand-off.
alexander Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 He just wants the whole world to become like his P@kistan with bombs flying around everywhere. :winky: It is very poor to rejoice in the killing of innocent people. The masses of Pakistani people have nothing to do with these extremist Islamists. One can blame the Pakistani state for having feted radicals previously and say this wave of violence in Pakistan is 'karma' (if one believes in that)- but the average farmer, shop keeper is an innocent victim. We in the UK have suffered from terrorist violence - first from the IRA, now from extremist Muslims. But we know the average Irishman just like the average Muslim disapproves of these elements too. My neighbours father was maimed in deployment in Northern Ireland - so I have seen the savagery of senseless violence.

The same masses that rejoice in the terrorist activities such as 7/11 or 9/11. True, that is not each and every individual of the Paki society and there are a lot of innocent victims, but the significant portion of their population are tacitly complicit with terrorists and terrorism, so long as it doesnt blow them up, obviously! I am one of the few indians who's actually been to Pakistan.
Muloghonto Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Europe can ill afford another prolonged stand-off. Well its Russia and its Putin. It won't be prolonged, willing to bet that the dust of this will be settled in another 2 months, atleast in the military sense of the way. The west is less concerned with historic ties than Russia is but Russians are acutely aware of the fact that Ukraine is the birthplace of the Russian identity ( Keivan Rus) and they will never ever let it fall under non-Russian influence without a fight.

Yes, 10 % of that population is 20 million odd people. In all places, hardliners need to be sidelined. So it must be asked what percentage of their population do those 'thousands' represent. Even 10 million people would be 5% of the people. Meaning 95% are not of such persuasion.

Pak's got 150 million people and IMO, about 40-60% show tacit or blatant support for the extremists, with less than 5% being openly against extremism.
alexander Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 With 40-60%, extremists would just win an election and be in power. They'd not have to resort to violence. I will do some research but as an outsider - please state realistic figures.

Incase you forgot, pak hasnt been a democracy for very long and only approved parties win any major votes because the military apparatus of pakistan does not want the extremists to go mainstream. Thats coz the still wanna control the extremists Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2

Majority of people sometime partially support extremist , many others may give silent support. If tommorow Pakistan govt declare Pakistan to be secular nation rather than islamic one then majority may go against them side with extremist , but if exremists may want to declare it Taliban type islamic nation then majority may dissapprove them too,

But I am talking about violent radicals. To give the Irish example - many Irish may want unification, but only those engaged in acts of violence are terrorists. Being super conservative is someone's choice - but no one has the right to force their beliefs on others or undertake violence for those beliefs. -- On the Russia-Ukraine issue, Russia has given a deadline of Tuesday evening for acquiescence.

Iconoclast Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 KIEV, March 3 (Reuters) - Russia's Black Sea Fleet has told Ukrainian forces in Crimea to surrender by 5 a.m. (0300 GMT) on Tuesday or face a military assault, :fear:
Iconoclast Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Why do you trolls try to make every thread an anti-pak thread ? Seriously getting pathetic now.
