Dravid dropped from 1st two ODIs vs Pak, Sehwag in!!

Very bold move this. On form and available replacements ,Dravid didnt deserve a place in the one-day team, but rarely is logic followed when it comes to Indian cricket. Dravid seems to be going in the Kumble route. Discarded from the one-day unit but still an automatic selection for the test-outfit. Lets see how he reacts. Things falling apart for the Wall off late.

No Badri and No Raina ? Seems stupid. Badri after some huge scores gets into the ODI 15 and doesn't get a single game, and again scores well in Challengers trophy in both games and dropped ?? Raina does well in both games and not picked ? I wonder whether there is any logic in these selections. If Dravid had to be dropped, what about Ganguly ?

The selectors have gone in with just 6 specialist batsman, which only means the stupid 5 bowler policy is going to continue. And one of the 6 is Sharma, so that obviously increases his chances massively. If they decide to play 4 bowlers , he is a default pick, they have no choice so that is good news for him. That also leaves very little options to tinker with the batting line-up. Sehwag, till the last match , didnt do enough to warrant a selection. Yet, he has been picked, which could only mean that they really want him to play against Pakistan. Cant see Sachin/Saurav batting in any other position other no.1 and no.2 ,so will Sehwag play in the middle order ? that doesnt make too much sense either. Badrinath warranted a selection in the 15 , but obviously there was no way he could get into the eleven at all, which was probably the reason he wasnt selected at all . I am sure they would have told him that. Dinesh Karthik is out , understandably so .He has been in wretched form off late. As far as Dravid is concerned, the team management seems to be in confusion as to which slot to play him in . Sometimes , he came at no.3 , other days at no.6 even. This team doesnt have enough utility players. I wouldnt call this a balanced squad. I would have taken off Bhajji and put Y.Pathan in his place. My eleven from this , against Pak for the 1st two one-dayers would be Sachin Saurav Sharma Sehwag Yuvraj Uthappa Dhoni Irfan Zaheer Karthik RPS

So what will the playing eleven be? Ganguly Tendulkar Sehwag Sharma Yuvraj Dhoni Uthappa Pathan Harbhajan Zaheer RP Singh With this we might be a bowler short, so Yuvi,Tendulkar,Sharma have to play the 5th bowler We only have the openers as anchors. All the rest are streaky players.

Dropping Dravid was a huge mistake. Playing that worthless tub of lard Sehwag is an even bigger mistake. How the hell does Veeru keep getting into the ODI team anyway ? For 3 years in the ODI side, this guy could barely make double digits.

I'm not sure what their playing at. I would have expected Dravid to have been in the squad but kept out of the first couple of games as part of a sensible rotation policy. What greatly worries me is that our clever selectors might be looking to axe Dravid from the ODIs permanently, a daft move at best and one precipitated it would appear solely from his perfomance in one series against the best ODI team in the game.

Against Pakistan at home, I dont think we will miss Dravid, esp given his recent form. We'd be better off playing youngsters. Against Aus in Aus, selectors will fall back on Dravid's experience.

That is a myth believed by Ganguly fans. Dravid has better captaincy stats than Ganguly. In tests abroad he is all-time #1.

Stats aside, in ODI cricket, there is not much doubt who the better captain was. Ganguly had better use of his bowlers, he generally assessed the pitches better, he was more willing to take risks and back his instinct, and he was quite protective of his players. You could argue that Ganguly had players in form, more than Dravid, but players like Yuvraj, Sehwag, Kaif and Zaheer would have probably not got their chance at that time had Ganguly not pushed for them. Dravid had a lot of bad luck as captain, but in general, stats aside, just looking at the 2 captains, I felt Ganguly was better. I am sure most cricket experts would agree that Ganguly was a better captain than Dravid

Yes, they have rested the one senior when dropped will cause the least ruckus in the country. If the other two were dropped, there would be bundhs called in Mumbai/Kolkata and effigies of BCCI diggajs would be burnt. Now, the bovine idli people in Karnataka will not cause any trouble if Dravid is dropped.

It is always easy to drop a players who doesn't hob nob with politicians.There is no chance of politicians pulling strings for Rahul...nor does he have effigy burning fans. As for the swine vengsarkar...if he could ...he would drop dravid from tests too. If he could have it ...he would hang him .
