peterparker Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Lets remember Shehzad hasn't said this. It was Abdul Razzaq who is known to say silly things. No batsman can compare to Sachin. Sachin was a beast, the greatest of all time. Possibly not the best match-winner(compared to Ponting) however he was a genius and I am lucky to have witnessed him play. In fact we all are. What an unbelievable batsman. The sad thing is I am sure we will see a few batsman overtake his records now with the rules favouring batsman. I just hope it doesn't devalue his spectacular efforts. Back to Shehzad, Shehzad is a good option. He has a few errors but then again who doesn't? His top hand is heavy which makes it difficult for him to rotate strike, drop it and run. He gets criticised a lot but we must remember he is young. 23 years of age and he already has 10 international centuries. He already has a ton against the best bowlers of this era: Steyn, Philander, Johnson, Roach, Boult, Southee. Has a knack for hitting the fast bowlers. Has taken a liking to Cummins, Milne in the past and isn't afraid of the short ball. Lets hope he can come good. Sachin was a match winner in his own rights. He was not a finisher. When Indian team got finishers, sachin's innings turned into match winning innings. In the 90s, sachin's innings never used to get backed by the finishers, that's why Indian team used to lose matches.
profster Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Fully agree. Sachinistas have to accept ex-player opinions, learn to ignore the cold stats and make peace with the reality. Thoughts matter more than facts. BTW, Greg Chappell also said this to me over cocktails at a poker party. It seems Ian even thinks that Ahmed's natural talent can rival that of Don.
mhr123 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 i don't understand why SRT is tagged as non-finisher ... he was an opener Damn-it . An openers Job is to give a good start , lead the team to winning position and from there Middle order takes over. The players with whom SRT is compared are either middle order or lower middle order. It was after Dhoni's era were most of the games were finished by him but in these matches most of time we got good starts. In 75% cases were India have won , SRT played well.
Marut Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Sachin can never match Shehzad's talent in tuk tuk.
profster Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 :cantstop: i know our rivalry can get in the way but he does have talent I don't dispute that Shehzad is talented. He needs to sort out his ODI batting in terms of dot balls percentage. Dravid had strike rotation and placement issues and worked on them. Trott is another example of ODI adaptation. Even his fielding seems to have an added element of a flourish for the sake of cameras. Yuvi had playboy lifestyle issues but Tendu mentored him and sorted him out.
Roshanrocks Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Razzaq has real talent in spotting Pakistani talent. He shud become selector :hatsoff: He might find next bradman also in Pakistan.. even superman

No. In the 90s the Indian team was filled with **** players other than Sachin that is why we lost. The only decent batsmen (Azhar and Jadeja) were too busy match fixing to win anything. Ashwin would make it into that 90s team purely as a batsman.
jusarrived Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I cant belive the guy with his foot rooted like a tree can be called talented . This guy is a shot less wonder . Dont give me Shewags example , Viru was a freak .
P.B. Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I see Razzaq is smoking some of that good stuff with "Tom" :hysterical:

Dravid had strike rotation problem not bcos of technical issues or he lacked shots around or cos he was crap against spinners or he had Zero footwork like Shezad . Dravid had a problem improvising , similar to Rahane these days . Shezads problem is not going to be sorted . At best he can bcom like Misbah . I have see this with Pak fans , Fawad for eg ..simply does not have techique and your fans would compare him to Chandrapaul :hysterical: why cos both have an ugly stance . There are 100 other things which makes Chandra the player he is , just cos Fawad has a common weakness he wont be as good . The logic :giggle:
jusarrived Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Me as an analyst always looks at the positives first. What I think is that even with these deficiencies he has scored this many runs, imagine once he improves. That would make Rohit a legend if you just go by runs . Every opener is scoring runs and at a much faster rate . Sarfraz scored a hundered in the second match he opened .

Just providing Indian and English examples where similar discussions about strike rate and rotation took place. We will get to see whether Shehzad corrects his technical flaws and learns to adapt to the match situation or not. Doesn't bother me one bit. I am more worried about Kohli's wafting outside off-stick. Not everybody is a genius as Sachin to make a double at the SCG by scoring mostly on the leg side.
akshayxyz Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Its an embarrassment for ICF, that this thread reached 3rd page!
Zero_Unit Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 am still surprised that this thread is still alive and doing quite well LOL
AmreekanDesi Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Many Pakistanis are so obsessed with Sachin, they cannot stand the fact that an Indian player has shattered so many records and is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsman of all time. The hate towards a gentleman like Sachin is nauseating. Ajmal,Moyo,Razzaq,Imran,Akhtar,Aaqib are sore losers. Real gentlemen like Zaheer Abbas,Qadir,Wasim,Inzi,Anwar,Saqlain,Mushtaq Mohd,Hanif Mohd etc are real sportsmen and appreciate good cricket regardless of nationality, you will never see these guys putting down SRT. And Shehzad is more talented than Sachin as far as taking selfies is concerned. In cricket he isn't fit to sit in the same building as the Mumbai maestro. i find it esp funny when they say Ponting, Dravid were better than Sachin but when they have to compare their latest hyped hack to someone they always compare him with Sachin :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
Precambrian Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 What's Shehzad s strike rate in one days? 72? That in modern times is equivalent to 60 ten years back.
Autonomous Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Hackzad is good for nothing. Pathetic and horrific batsman. Just terrible and thinks like a super star, Curse you lala for thus,Akmal,Shehzad and Lala are all non performing super stars. All hail media and publicity
Cricket_Hacker Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Strike rate is totally opposite to his personality off the field
Marut Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Looks like SelfieZad could be dropped from the team for a while.
