I love Jon though . like Lurker mentioned sometime ago, Colbert says a lot in a short span of time so sometimes you dont even remember what he said 5 mins ago. I like his show because he is different and very creative.

Before people ridicule me,Yes I get the character he plays but not a big fan. Love John Stewart though I don't know about cool, but the guy is UNDERRATED. Since he has to be in character, he hasn't even shown his full range yet. The more you get into american politics and pop culture, more you will appreciate/understand his jokes. The guy is a genius, and is vastly more talented than Jon Stewart. He has won multiple Emmies, and Grammies. Just watch his Press correspondents dinner speech,super hilarious and shocked and burned the whole right, including sitting president BUSH so bad, and was such an out of the blue performance of a lifetime.

But if it still doesn't appeal to you then it entirely a taste thing. I love both Jon and Bill Maher more than him Infact i stopped watching after a while. I just watch Jon and swtich channels.

He'll have to get out of character, be a little less abrasive, be apolitical, and maybe even a little less intellectual, so he can cater to a more varied audience. There's no reason he can't do it, though. Will be fun to watch him. And finally, people will have to stop using him to get their news and talking points from!

But he doesn't show it very often. I thought Jimmy Fallon was going to be an epic fail and they would take him off air. He adapted. All these show men will eventually adapt . Also audience need time to get used to it.
Ram Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Colbert's inevitable move to the Talk show domain was the worst kept secret of the TV industry in the US. He was clearly overqualified for the Comedy Central gig and is a brilliant, brilliant performer. Colbert is a one man entertainment machine who connects instantly with his audience and actually makes real people go crazy for him (unlike somebody like O'Brien, whose brand of humor does not resonate with everyone). I was there in Washington DC in 2010, for the Stewart-Colbert rally. There were quarter of a million bloody people there! I have been trying to get tickets to his show in NYC for literally 4 years, but havent managed it yet. That is how much people love him. Colbert is not just a tv personality, he's an actual star. You just make an announcement that Colbert is visiting a local book store and watch as 100s, if not 1000s of people congregate instantaneously. And he is not just a funny guy, but also a brilliant mind as well (if you dont trust me, just watch his entire series of episodes when he ran the fake presidential campaign to collect money and expose the scandal that is campaign financing in the US today). It will blow your mind away. I gotto be honest - I started off as being a Jon Stewart fan but the more and more i watched Colbert, the more i couldnt help my loyalties gravitating towards him. CBS snagged a good one with this. And speaking of CBS, I am almost 100% certain that Letterman had something to do with Colbert replacing him. I wouldnt be surprised if Colbert was letterman's personal choice to replace him as well. The fact that Colbert was named the replacement less than a week after letterman's announcement to quit makes me wonder if this transition has been in the makings for weeks, if not months. But if there's any one guy who can rival Colbert in the 'likeable' category, it is probably Fallon. It is going to be fascinating to see these two go head to head in the ratings race in 2015. The fact that NBC boss came out with a statement a couple of weeks ago (before Colbert was formally announced as the replacement) that whoever is going to replace letterman, he thinks Fallon would still do fine, goes on to show that the rival networks are already feeling threatened.
