The BJP thread

the TMC will probably split into factions if Mamata Bannerjee is dead. But so long as she is alive and in a good condition i doubt anything will happen. anything else is wishful thinking. I am reminded of Naveen Patnaik and the BJD. Not sure if the BJD will remain infact post Naveen.

In all the hoopla about J and K we forget that municipal polls are taking place for all of Chattisgrah. Raman singh has been facing an OBC backlash. I feel if results are not satisfactory then Shah may need to replace him and move him into national politics and bring in a face fresh. Obviously if BJP do well then retain him.

Regarding Bihar elections, there is some talking going on for shahnawaz hussain as one of the CM candidates. Now, that would be something and could change a lot of political equation and expose the "secular" parties. Additional, many things are expected to change once JDU-RJD merger is official, as there are many cadre who have been lifelong anti-RJD. In Jharkhand elections, there were already many JDU cadres who were openly campaigning against the party. So expect, major outgoing/incoming among parties in Bihar While in AP, seems like Kiran Reddy could join BJP. That would a coup for state BJP.

That will be great but not realistic. Sushil Modi is there for long time snubbing him will be a bad move, unless BJP moves him to Center.

It's a collection decision based on opinion of the cadre. And given Bihar votes a lot of caste factors, BJP certainly has a lot of thinking and selection to do there.

who are these hussain fanboys? The BJP should accommodate him from the RS but thats about it. Lost a seat in the lok sabha elections in 2014 despite the BJP alliance winning 31/40. There needs to be some political vitality right? Another one is that Shatrughan Sinha. Basically contests from a really safe BJP seat and talks as if he should be given the CM post no questions asked. The BJP should declare Sushil Modi to be CM candidate. End of. He has the seniority and he has the administrative experience.

Let's not get too ahead, even Arun Jaitley had lost the LS elections. Shahnawaz is certainly one of the many options for BJP consider. Sushil Modi as CM candidate is not foregone conclusion. There is a sector in state BJP who do not agree with his projection. Bihar is one state which will vote on caste lines so this will be a challenging election and BJP needs to get its choice right to win. There is still some time left so a lot of new developments and changes will happen.

thats true for every major state in the country. In karnataka there is the Yeddy and Ananth Kumar faction. In maharashtra it was Gadkari v Munde. etc etc etc etc. There will always be factions in the states in which BJP dont have a historic hold. Raman singh is battling rebellion in Chattisgrah despite ruling for close to 12 years. On one hand you say Bihar votes along caste lines. One the other you want to project somebody who would not make sense in such a scenario. If anything Sushil Modi's OBC status makes his caste card stronger than Hussein. In states like Maharashtra and Jharkhand the OBC vote has really swung behind the BJP. He has risen through the ranks of the BJP and has been prominent since the 1990s. What are the other real options? Thakur or Kumar? Both just dont have the stature. You have seen in Kashmir the community Mr Hussein belongs to does not come out to vote for the BJP. Now i personally am ready to give him a chance to govern provided he proves himself. He should contest as an MLA and prove himself. I agree there is no need to project anybody this early.

^ stop being so pessimistic. The state elections are nearly 4 years away. Even in this municipal election the Congress have probably won 55-45. Its a salvageable situation. As i said before there was severe infighting within the party. New leadership needs to be implemented. Raman singh has already taken the tough decisions on stuff like price of paddy etc. A fresh admin can provide the impetus needed. Its a timely wake up call.

In Bihar, BJP also needs to decide between a collective stand led by PM or having a CM state candidate. Any infighting and opposition alliances calculations will influence that decision. Also, it seems certain that Misa is the heir of RJD. She is very likely to get a minister role once the JDU-RJD merger is official. So another long dynastic politics has started. And regarding RJD, what is the status of Lalu's bail? He has been out of jail for some time, so how is that even possible? He is a convicted criminal and yet, it seems everybody has forgotten it including the media and pseudo seculars. Not surprising, as many times, they have shed tears for terrorists or supported criminals just to defeat BJP.

Rajasthan govt cancels land purchased by Vadra’s firm Taking decisive action against Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra’s allegedly dubious land deals in Bikaner, the state government has cancelled mutation of land purchased by his firm Skylight Hospitality Private Limited. The government has seized approximately 360 hectares of land that the firm had bought in 2010. Kolayat tehsildar Gajendra Nain told the Indian Express, “As part of an inquiry it was found that the Vadra land deals in Gajner and Goileri in Kolayat tehsil were bought from fake sellers. As per instructions, the land had been seized by the state government and the mutation of the property stands cancelled. Further investigations into the deals are underway.†The plots of land were bought by Vadra’s company in 2010 and further changed hands over the past few years. Sources in the revenue department said it was found that names of 16 residents in Kolayat were shown as displaced from Mahajan Field Firing Range, who were allotted plots of land in 2006-07. These plots of land were eventually sold off to Vadra’s firm in 2010. The local administration had issued orders in October last year to investigate the land deals in Goileri, Gajner, Indon ka Bala and Madh Gaon villages in Kolayat tehsil and issue cancellation orders if the mutation was found fake. Fake land deals were made under the names of Jagatpura village residents Bhaira Ram, Pema Ram, Hari Ram, Natha Ram, Poorna Ram, Shera Ram, Harnarayan, Nopa Ram, Magtu Ram, Gumana Ram, Bhoja Ram, Jora Ram, Devi Lal, Rampura resident Ram Chandra, Deda Ram, Madh Gaon resident Poora Ram. The Vasundhara Raje government had promised action against the alleged dubious land deals by Vadra in their election manifesto before the assembly polls in 2013 and soon after coming to power had constituted an inquiry. The issue was raised in the Lok Sabha as well as the state legislative assembly and in response to a query raised by one of the BJP legislators the state revenue board had sought details of the land deals in Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. While no land deals came to the fore in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, serious flaws in the land deals were found in Bikaner.

ok so BJP may probably be the largest party in the Rajya sabha in 2016 Bihar and Delhi i dont expect Congress to do well enough to get many rajya sabha seats. Also what this stat probably does not show is that Milind Deoras death means BJP will pocket a rajya sabha seat in maha. @asterix

In 2009, the BJP had won six of nine municipal corporations, 18 of 32 municipalities and 71 of 127 nagar panchayats — 95 of the total 168. This year, it won just 57 of the total 154. In 2009, the Congress won three municipal corporations, 12 municipalities and 44 nagar panchayats. This year, it won four municipal corporations, 16 municipalities and 50 nagar panchayats. - See more at: http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-others/fall-of-the-fortress/#sthash.Xebiu5eE.dpuf
As i said the congress have won. But its a salvageable position. 57 for the BJP and 70 for the Congress. This was more of a protest vote against the administration than a vote for the congress.
