S=G , someone is there a middle ground in all this? give Manjhi an important portfolio as a promise and declare elections? or offer him a ministry at the centre ? Or are the bjp better off not having a lose cannon in its ranks. There are no shortage of them as Sakshi Maharaj can testify.

how many elections do they have in India. Seems like there are elections all through the year. :hitler: Inte elect hotay hain, kaam koi nahi karta :wall:
its the flaw in the Indian system thats for sure. The rajya sabha is fed by performances in the state elections. So you are constantly in politics mode to maintain your balance in the rajya sabha. I dont think the framers of the constitution realised just how fragmented the Indian electorate would be. Even national parties like the Congress and BJP have never been in power for close to 30 years in Bihar India's 3rd most populous state and 40 years in West Bengal.

Form the moment I think BJP should wait and watch....just let the drama unfold. Right now it does not look like he is in a position to recommend dissolution of the assembly (check the Janta Parivar thread - there's a post saying that Sharad Yadav has asked Gov not to listen to Manjhi as he is in minority) so the Govt will not be falling. BJP should wait and let the JDU implode then some MLAs will automatically come to it wanting to join.

wont get kicked out. But disciplined. He has strong RSS roots and is a Lodh OBC. Like it or not he has worked hard for the RSS way before the Modi gov. Its the same reason why Sadhvi has not be axed.

Sakshi will be asked to shut up or get booted out.Modi and Shah are too powerful even for the RSS to do much.

No doubt he will get booted out if he continues along the same path. But dont underestimate the power of the RSS. Even in Delhi after all the bickering local leaders Amit Shah has fallen back on trusted RSS cadre. One word from Bhagwat and they will pack their bags and go back to their shakhas. Modi and Shah may control the parliamentary BJP and all elected representatives. But its the RSS that controls the cadre. The BJP cadre base is extremely thin in places like Haryana etc. They cannot afford to piss of the RSS. The very fiasco in Delhi of the local BJP unit further highlights the need for the BJP to rely on the RSS. I dont think the BJP need the RSS in states like Gujarat etc. But in the vast majority of Indian states they are heavily dependent on the RSS cadre. Obviously Bhagwat is a pragmatic man. He does not want to be in conflict with Modi. He may put in a good word for Sakshi Maharaj which might spare him this time but he is not going to put in a special effort. But events such as the appointment of RSS strongman Kataria as Rajasthan home minister, selection of the new CM of Goa etc all bear the wishes of the RSS high command. Modi and the RSS high command will have a symbiotic relationship. Obviously they will not agree on everything. But they will agree on most things.

LOL! at the notion that people like Giriraj, Sakshi, Niranjan etc. can be sidelined. That's where BJP derives it's core electoral strength from. BJP got 31% of the vote in 2014. If they had contested indepentely they would have got 35%, taking into account NDA alliances. They got 20% votes 5 years back, when they were at a low and supported by their base and reliable vote. Around half of this is made up of Jaahils like Sakshi and their followers. Thinking that BJP will relegate around a third of their vote by taking on Sakshi and company is fantasy. A 10% vote drop for BJP could mean 200 seats in the next elections, still enough to run a government but not a stable one.

Election Results in Rajasthan Zilla Parishad BJP (33) BJP 23 Congress 9 1 Undecided Gram Panchayat: 3018 BJP Congress 2534 Our media are so easy to put down the BJP .These set of results are being seen as a vote against the BJP http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/Focus-shifts-to-pramukhs-pradhans/articleshow/46152580.cms Granted the BJP have not done as well as other elections. They are weaker in rural areas than urban. But to claim that somehow congress should be happy with this performance is just pitiful. The numbers speak for themselves.

How did that happen? Did NC-Cong combine to get Azad in? Did PDP not help BJP?

Azad was always going go win. He is one of very few Kaangressi who deserve to win and should be on politics.

still it was poor floor management by both the PDP and the BJP There are a lot of green horns in the BJP JnK legislative unit. They could not convince the independents to vote for their candidate. As per reports Azad squeezed by in a 1-2 vote affair. Maybe the BJP should have bargained for 2 rajya sabha seats from the PDP in lieu of a other posts etc. Remains to be seen how much the BJP and the PDP have compromised.

Still a mystery as to why Harshvardhan was not made CM candidate.
That was a major screw up by Modi-Shah... Under Harshwardhan, BJP was doing well in Delhi...

The deal was to send him packing off to the union cabinet so that some other from leader can engineer a defection in AAP/Con and form govt in Delhi. The whole thing went for a toss.
