G_B_ Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 BJP looks for a Devendra Fadnavis to revive its fortune in Karnataka Party spokesperson and MLA S Suresh Kumar, Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar and Hubli-Dharwad West MLA, Arvind Bellad have made it to the short list, much of which is being kept hush hush to prevent early sabotage by rivals. Read more at: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/46363079.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst Not too sure this is the right strategy. Devendra Phadnavis was made CM cause Gopinath Munde passed away. With Yeddy still very much popular in Karnataka I am not sure this is the right strategy. At the very least Yeddy should be involved in the selection process. The congress in karnataka is weak and ripe for the taking. Joint leadership might be the way forward. In 2013 BJP lost due to infighting. So lot as they maintain a united front I think it will be enough. bulbul your thoughts?

Suresh kumar is great and simple guy, used to travel to Vidhansouda in Auto. But unfortunately he don't have any support base. Regarding Yeddy, its time to move on. His name keep on linked with any land related corruption cases. Other leaders like Sadananda Gowda,Shettar,Ishwarappa etc are useless and with very poor support base. BJP should take risks,no other way.

Is support base that important in Karnataka? How is the support base, like say in maharashtra region comes first then caste (rural) ethnicity (mumbai and urban). How does one gain a support base? Via good work caste etc? (B) LA S Suresh Kumar, Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar and Hubli-Dharwad West MLA, Arvind Bellad who among these three you feel can win BJP the election?
G_B_ Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 SAD-BJP alliance sweeps civic polls in Punjab SAD-BJP alliance today swept the civic polls in Punjab as it won 1,161 seats out of results declared in 2,037 wards, with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal describing the verdict as mandate in favour of "pro-people" and "development oriented policies" of the state government. Out of 2,037 wards in 122 municipal councils and Nagar Panchayats, SAD wrested control on 813 wards while its ally BJP won 348 wards, as per election results declared late evening. The Congress which was looking to strengthen its position in these elections won 253 wards while Independents were victorious on 624 seats, an official of Punjab Election Commission said. There was a clean sweep for SAD in Amritsar, Moga, Tarn Taran and Mohali while Congress was able to gain majority in Nurmahal, Khanna, Doraha, Patran, Malerkotla, Abohar, Gidderbaha and Nawanshahar towns. BJP led in the wards of Ferozepur, Fazilka, Mukerian, Dasuya, Nangal, Tanda, Rajpura, Deenanagar and Sujanpur. BSP won three seats each in Nakodar, Nurmahal and Bhai Roopa while PPP won one seat in Phillaur and two in Gobindgarh, as per the results. Interestingly, in Tarn Taran where SAD and BJP were in direct fight, Akalis won on 16 wards while BJP managed to win 7 seats out of 23 wards. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal hailed the victory of Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance in the elections of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in the state. Describing it as a mandate in favour of pro-people and development-oriented policies of SAD-BJP government, the Chief Minister in a statement said that the victory of the alliance has once again demonstrated people's full faith and confidence in the policies and programmes of the alliance government. He said that poll results were a "triumph of clean, transparent and good governance of alliance over the "malicious propaganda" based on divisive politics and dirty tactics applied by the Congress. Reacting to the poll results, Punjab BJP President Kamal Sharma termed the victory of the SAD-BJP combine as victory of the democracy and development agenda pursued by the ruling alliance. Earlier, polling to 122 municipal councils and nagar panchayats today passed off peacefully barring stray incidents at some booths of Samana and Ferozepur. Despite inclement weather conditions, the total polling in the civic polls was registered at 78.60 per cent, said SS Brar, State Election Commissioner. Maximum polling was witnessed in Bathinda (87.11 per cent), Barnala (82 per cent), Fatehgarh Sahib (80.55 per cent), Moga (85.18 per cent), Mansa (85.60 per cent) and Sangrur (82.71 per cent). http://www.business-standard.com/article/pti-stories/sad-bjp-alliance-sweeps-civic-polls-in-punjab-115022600014_1.html Interesting to note than in Tran Taran the SAD offered the BJP 5 seats in a 80:20 split. The BJP on their own have won 7. They wanted 10 from the Akalis. That trend is visible in places where the akalis and bjp have fought alone. The BJP have performed better than what the Akalis were ready to give. But have fallen short of what they demanded from the Akalis. All things considered I think its fair that the BJP stick with the Akalis in Punjab. With AAP being an unknown factor in 2017 its better to have safety in numbers. At the same time the BJP have improved their hand in Punjab in terms of vote share. So they need to negotiate to 30 seats out of 117 for the 2017 assembly elections. I value the BJP vote share at 15-20%. However its vote share is prone to being eaten up by AAP. The Akalis are on firmer ground with rural sikh support. The congress have been crushed.....People are viewing independents as better bets for change than the congress. This is a crushing blow for Bajwa. It highlights in the current form the congress are in no shape to take on the ruling combine in punjab.
G_B_ Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 The takeaway for the SAD and BJP — who have been making noises that suggest a likely breakup of the alliance ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections — was that it would be wiser for them to stick together. As the two got majority in 28 civic bodies only in alliance — and with the Aam Admi Party (AAP) breathing down the neck of the major political parties in the state — the civic elections were being seen as a test case for the various parties to gauge the public mood and forge alliances or strategies for 2017. http://www.tribuneindia.com/news/punjab/akali-bjp-alliance-leads-but-independents-steal-the-show/46652.html echoes my sentiments.... The BJP needed a strong show in these elections to make the Akalis aware of their value. They have succeeded. I am reminded of Orissa were a poor show in the municipal polls saw Patnaik break the alliance. That has not happened and the BJP certainly have improved their vote share in a three party system (SAD, BJP, Congress).

Support base is there for party not for individual leaders.Karnataka voted BJP from the time Vajapayee became PM and it continues till now and i think Modi can even take it further. Yeddy was the pillar as he put lot of effort for decades to build party, but outside him there is no visible leader who have mass support base. B. None on their own, only way BJP can win is on Modi's name. While Suresh kumar will be ideal candidate to lead. Again everything depends on Modi /Shah and how they manage Yeddy and other factions.
amiret Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 BJP received Rs 1 crore as donation through identical cheques, demand drafts : The ruling BJP was caught in a controversy over funding after it emerged that the party received donations to the tune of Rs 1 crore through identical cheques or demand drafts in 2013-14. The Association for Democratic Reforms discovered the discrepancies when it analysed the party's contribution report. None of these donors provided their permanent account number (PAN), a must to receive income tax rebate for donating money to political parties, it added. The inconsistencies came as an embarrassment for the party after it accused the Aam Aadmi Party of receiving funds from unverified sources. "I have not checked the facts. But since it is donation by cheque, it is obvious this is just a reporting error," BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/bjp-received-rs-1-crore-as-donation-through-identical-cheques-dds/article1-1320680.aspx Must be an honest mistake.... or probably a SICKular KHANgress Conspiracy.

G_B_ Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 IT was a win-win for Akali-BJP sworn alliance in Municipal Council polls. Shiromani Akali Dal (B) won 954 seats (73.55%). It had fielded 1297 candidates. And BJP won 365 (47.77%) seats out of 764. In all the 22 districts of Punjab, 2050 wards, 6956 candidates contested. The Congress could get only 356 seats against fielding of 1246 candidates which comes to 28.57 per cent. BSP (K) had given tickets to 101 candidates and only 5 could win, just 4.95 per cent. - See more at: http://www.merinews.com/article/win-win-situation-for-akali-bjp-in-punjabs-municipal-council-polls/15904589.shtml#sthash.HU9Or5u2.dpuf I do believe this is the first time the BJP have more candidates at municipal level in Punjab than the Congress. Great result.
G_B_ Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 As TMC bleeds, it’s advantage BJP KOLKATA: Amid the strong buzz about growing chasm between Trinamool Congress and Mukul Roy, BJP reiterated on Wednesday that it would not induct him. "Why should we derail our campaign against the Trinamool? We are fighting against scamsters. Why should we induct anyone being investigated in the Saradha scam?" said Sidharth Nath Singh, BJP national secretary in charge of Bengal. BJP is keen on quashing suggestions about Roy joining the party. Sources, however, said he is in touch with top BJP leaders as perception of his growing distance from Trinamool and its supremo Mamata Banerjee gains strength. BJP's image would take a beating if Roy joined the party as he was the number two in Trinamool till recently, many of whose leaders are battling charges of involvement in the Saradha Ponzi scam. While the "Modi wave" is on the wane, BJP has managed to occupy a prime position in the opposition space in Bengal politics primarily due to its anti-Saradha scam pitch. So, it does not help the BJP to scoop up Roy. However, dissent within Trinamool works for the BJP. In this, Roy could come in handy for the saffron party. Roy, till recently Mamata's close aide, was questioned by CBI for about six hours in connection with the Saradha scam. Political observers believe he has been looking to BJP for succour while deliberately distancing himself from Trinamool chief and the party. Many Trinamool leaders known to be close to Roy have been playing their part too. The latest in Trinamool's long list of dissidents is MLA Swapan Kanti Ghosh, who agitated outside the assembly against corruption in the Trinamool-run Suri Municipality on Wednesday. Ghosh said he could join the BJP if the party did not address his grievances. This led Shamik Bhattacharya, BJP's lone MLA in the state assembly, to remark that several Trinamool leaders have been keeping in touch with the BJP. "Some Trinamool leaders have even travelled to Delhi to meet our leaders," said Bhattacharya. There are unconfirmed reports of Roy meeting top BJP leaders outside Bengal. Bhattacharya, however, was quick to add that BJP would decide on whom to induct after careful consideration. The underlying message was clear: BJP would not like to be seen as a party embracing defectors. Especially after the twin defeats in the recent bypolls in Bongaon and Krishnaganj, BJP is mindful of the fact that the Saradha scam taint has not eroded Mamata's popularity in rural Bengal. Trinamool won both seats despite Roy's minimal participation in the party's campaign. But Roy is still key to Trinamool's organization across Bengal. Perhaps no other Trinamool leader wields as much clout or knows the party's organization throughout the state as well as he does. A key "organization man" like Roy could hugely benefit the BJP. Instead of inducting him in the party, the BJP would rather have Roy form a pressure group with the potential to corner Mamata. In realpolitik, this could translate into a political party floated by Roy and his supporters. The breakaway group would physically weaken the Trinamool while aligning itself with the BJP. The other scenario arises if Trinamool bleeds from within. Mamata tried to quell intra-party discontent by assigning responsibilities to "dissidents". Simultaneously, Trinamool leaders have announced that the party won't hold back anyone looking to jump ship. Trinamool leaders, dubbed as "dissidents" by BJP, have spoken against the party line or expressed dissatisfaction with its functioning. Most have been let off with no more than a rap. Suri MLA Ghosh, however, was suspended. A BJP leader said, "The more Mamata Banerjee bends to accommodate, the more she is weakened." So, whether Roy quits Trinamool with supporters to form a new outfit or tacitly stokes dissent within the party, the BJP is eyeing an opportunity to make political capital. As a senior BJP leader said, "Either way, it would be advantage BJP." http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kolkata/As-TMC-bleeds-its-advantage-BJP/articleshow/46374872.cms
someone Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 So SS is completely dissatisfied with the rail budget. Yes, that's the actual quote, "completely dissatisfied' SS has often gone against BJP in the past but today, it's became a habit in just about everything. They haven't been able to digest the fact that BJP is a bigger party in MH and Uddhav dream of becoming CM got destroyed. So I feel it's more frustration than anything so BJP need not overreact at all.

Uddhav, the other day has asked his cadres to fan out to rural areas in MAH and inform the public about the dangers of this Land Acquisition Bill and discredit BJP... As I said, you don't need enemies if you have friends like Sainiks... It has nothing to do with Mr. Prabhu. It's more an ego clash, Uddhav is using such drama/rants in order to gain some influence. Certainly, they aren't following the alliance dharma. Imo, SS wants BJP to react angrily which will help them get the sympathy factor.
Sachin=GOD Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 BJP should never have formed govt with these goons.
