Texan Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 BJP to field veteran O Rajagopal in Kerala bypoll http://indianexpress.com/article/india/politics/bjp-to-field-o-rajagopal-for-aruvikkara-by-polls/ dont the bjp have anybody young? He gave a tough fight to Tharoor in the last election. He has been a loyal BJP follower for a long time. Perhaps, they want to reward him with a seat.
G_B_ Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 he has had his time and been defeated 9 times. I dont blame him. He has been a trooper for the BJP. But lets have a young dynamic leader.
surajmal Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Smriti Irani is facing the same unrelenting character assassination that Namo had to face. Amazingly, she is handling it well. If she gets through the next couple of years, Pappu ka ram naam satya hai in 2019.
G_B_ Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 mixed picture emerging in the panchayat and zilla parishad polls for the BJP. Reports i am getting is while BJP are happy with the turnout especially the youth, it seems that the result will not be too good or too bad. Regardless of what happens the youth turnout means the BJP will go for a fresh face in his/her 40s. Keep in mind BJP is not directly participating. They are sort of semi participating with sponsored candidates. Its mostly a diagnostic.

She should also be used in Bihar campaigning, she certainly knows how to connect with the people. The media is having a smear campaign against her, but she really knows how to turn the tables and caught our media lying.
BeautifulGame Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 http://www.newindianexpress.com/states/tamil_nadu/Shah-may-Tour-Dalit-Pockets-in-South-TN/2015/06/05/article2849976.ece In a move to woo Dalits, the Scheduled Caste (SC) wing of the BJP, in all probability, will have party’s national president Amit Shah tour the caste-sensitive southern districts of Tamil Nadu where incidents of atrocities against them have escalated in the recent past. R G Raj Singh, BJP’s Tamil Nadu SC wing secretary, said conflicts between caste Hindus* and Dalits have witnessed an increase in state’s southern part during the last one year resulting in loss of lives and property to the Dalits. “We strongly believe only our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president Amit Shah can put an end to such conflicts and help uplift the social and economic status od Dalits,” Raj Singh told Express. He said Shah is likely to visit Madurai shortly and they have planned to take him on a tour to villages where Dalits are still facing discrimination. Seems BJP is already preparing ground for next year elections
G_B_ Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Madurai thats like an Allagiri stronghold right? and from my rudimentary understanding of the situation in TN, most caste based conflicts are between Vanniyars (a backward class) and SC groups.
BeautifulGame Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Madurai thats like an Allagiri stronghold right? and from my rudimentary understanding of the situation in TN, most caste based conflicts are between Vanniyars (a backward class) and SC groups. Yes Madurai is Alagiri area but isn't really his stronghold . Yup your understanding is correct .Caste based politics (or conflicts ) is mainly btw Vanniyars and Dalits which is mainly concentrated in Northern Tamil Nadu (Salem Dhatmapuri Krishnagiri districts ).PMK is Vanniyar party and VC is Dalit party . In Southern Tamil Nadu (Madurai Theni etc)also caste based politics exists between Devar (the dominant obc community here) and Dalits .But its usually tends to be rare or inter party rivalries within DMK and ADMK.
G_B_ Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Kotyan @BillavaKotyan 21m21 minutes ago Karnataka Panchayat Elections INC: 640 #BJP:304 JDS:310 poor performance from the BJP.... they were never really that strong in this segment, being more of an urban party. But disappointing none the less. While these were supported candidates, not direct based on symbol it shows that the BJP has a long way to go in the villages.... Update 2 : Gram Panchayath elections counting on the way : Cong : 637 BJP : 371 JDS : 310 Others : 121 Supported candidates.
G_B_ Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Update 3 : Gram Panchayath elections counting on the way : Cong : 725 BJP : 453 JDS : 321 Others : 125 Supported candidates.
G_B_ Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Update 6 : Gram Panchayath elections counting on the way : Cong : 12599 BJP : 6667 JDS : 6417 Others : 993 Supported candidates. Update 7:Gram Panchayath elections vote share: Cong : 57% BJP : 26% JDS : 15% Others : 2% Supported candidates. Poor result.... I will wait for the BBMP results before coming to a judgement as BJP are much stronger in urban areas. But rural BJP needs more impetus....
G_B_ Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Manjhi has demanded 60 seats from the BJP.... With the Janata pariwar looking like it will be in coalition, IMO the BJP need to give Manjhi 30 seats at max.
The Outsider Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 GB, you are vastly overestimating Manjhi. He has never been a mass leader and with his antics over the past few months he has gained some traction in the Dalit share, but his ability to swing votes is more in the 1-2% rather than the 5-6% range you have been estimating. BJP would have to be out of their minds to offer him anything more than 20 seats. The biggest threat for Nitish-Laloo is Pappu Yadav. He does have a mass base and even with his vote of 6-7% he can do massive damage to RJD because it's a concentrated vote. He can actually win 10-15 seats and be influential in another 25-30.

So if what you say is true, it might be best for the BJP to let Manjhi and Pappu contest together as the third front rather than them contesting alone.....7-9% of the vote share between them then it does tilt the battle towards the BJP alliance. I doubt the BJP will go with Pappu due to their plank of law and order which does not fit with pappu. Btw I dont have an indepth knowledge on Bihar politics. So bear with me on the same...
