If such a similar thing had happened in the NBA (or for that matter any professional league in the US), the consequences would have been damaging. The league would have almost certainly vacated the team’s wins in the last x number of years, banned the team from the league for certain number of years and could have even forced a sell-out of the team (like it did, in the clippers case). But here we are, in the IPL – CSK’s core ownership structure still stays the same, CSK as a team still has 2 championship titles and they are playing in this year’s edition like nothing happened. Ram, like cricketrulez said, this guy's racism (and his wife's, BTW) has been well-documented over the years. Two points: First, his past racism was mostly documented in legal documents and could easily be kept under wraps. And people didn't truly care enough to read about it. Hell, the NAACP was going to give this fool an award of some sort :hysterical: But, as soon as it became documented in social media, hell broke loose. Second, the sexsationalism angle. Racist 80 year old spouting off crap to his young African-American mistress, who was secretly recording it. Juicy stuff. The bad PR was way too much, and Silver had not choice but to ban the guy. Bottom line for the NBA? Damage control. Damn ... if Srini or Meiyappan had gotten involved in some juicy sexual scandal like that, you think they would have survived the public outrage? I doubt it.

So you think if Srini or Meiyappan were going to be thrown out from IPL...because of sex scandal and public outrage...but they survived because they just fixed the matches in IPL which had less public outrage :((

Why don't you let the process play out?

But, is it over? has any tangible evidence been ignored? has srini and meiyappan acquitted of wrong doing? the answer is no. cut out the lynch mob mentality.

Because that is what brings people to pay attention, initiates the negative backlash, followed by the PR nightmare and requisite damage control. How else do you think Sterling's racism was under wraps for so long, in spite of court documents showing he was a racist? Heck, the NAACP was all set to honor the scumbag! Why? There really was no juicy girlfriend recording making its rounds on the internet. For the decision-makers, as long as there is no PR nightmare, they don't give a flying fark. Be it in India or in the US And don't for a moment think that Sterling is losing much. They are going to force him to sell. At market price. He will either appeal or sell. If he appeals, the case will go on for a while and people will forget. If he complies, he will walk away with $1 billion.
