Mariyam Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 It's easy to evade saying that the govt. is useless, so the CM and ruling parties are helpless. Assam is run by INC for the last 14 yrs, and isn't it obvious that they doesn't care abt the state. It is a failure of state and central govt. for 14 freaking years of letting assam rot like this. Cry a river but politics has a chance to play, a fear that one day INC might do the same to other states as well, as their italian leader never cared abt India. Govt, arming who? People need to understand that the bodos are as Indian as we all are. The govt. is trying to arm the illegal immigrants (read muslims) from Bangladesh. There can't be a better example on open support to terrorism. Evade what? I am not supporting/justifying for the pathetic government in Assam. I've been a critic all along. Helpless/Useless/Inefficient, take your lexical pick. Fact is that this government is simply not in control. How do you expect this government to get work done or collect taxes in such areas where large groups of heavily armed people move around so freely? How is this any better than say a Naxal infested district in the jungles of Central India? I don't think even the INC is so stupid that they would arm people. Illegal immigrants at that. That is a very slippery slope and would make India a whole lot more unstable. It can however try to disarm the people who have these arms illegally. That would be the logical thing to do.
zep1706 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 shhhhh......don't feed them facts. They'll just hate you for it I am not taking sides here. I am not going to support such brutal massacre even if they were illegal immigrants but at the same time it is also true that successive governments (mainly Congress) in Assam have failed to do anything about this issue. In fact they gave political patronage to illegals in order to use them as vote banks. That has made the tribal people really worried. NDFB is a terrorist group and they don't represent all Bodos but there are some genuine concerns among Bodos. The NDA govt was also at fault for creating BTAD, the Bodo autonomous area in 2003 without properly considering the demographics of these areas. A lot of these areas had high population of non Bodos. It is all ****ed up to put it mildly.
zep1706 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I don't think even the INC is so stupid that they would arm people. That is not going to happen. It was a stupid comment from a minister which was denied by the CM later. It can however try to disarm the people who have these arms illegally. That would be the logical thing to do. It is not easy to disarm these people, because they are not regular civilians carrying guns. These are hardcore militants of some factions of NDFB, which is officially in ceasefire.
ganeshran Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 After the Salwa Judum fiasco, I doubt any government would put arms into the hands of poorly trained villagers. The Supreme court has already ruled such militias unconstitutional.
Vilander Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 If they are foolish enough to arm these bangladeshies the bodos will show them no mercy. It would be counter productive and most unfortunate, something at a national level would have to be done to engage bangladesh give regular aid packages to the adversely possessed areas in the borders, take care of their people there itself instead of rejects coming over and causing nuisance. Mostly i guess unmarried people cross over the boundary illegally and they do all kinds of anti social activities and this kind of back lash happens, this event was triggered by one such event. God save India, God bless India.

We all need to understand that our country which we need to keep safe for our children should only be ours, in the name of liberalism we can not allow more muslims to pour into the country what happens today in Assam will happen in Mumbai and Bangalore later.
Alchemist Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 What exactly do you mean by giving the government a free hand? According to you, what exactly is the government of Assam doing here? What do you hold them guilty of in this incident? From my reading of the situation, the biggest problem is that they aren't doing enough. Similar riots/massacres had occurred less than 2 years ago. And again we have random massacres now. I don't know why NDTV coverage is so low. Why ask me about it? But I do agree, this terror attack does need a lot of media coverage. In principle, this is not very different from what happened in Mumbai on the 26/11/08. Innocent civilians were gunned down by armed terrorists. Only there our "swift" NSG response ensured that the terrorists were eventually gunned down. And here, I haven't read of any kind of response from the state government and or Centre. Again, pretty poorly handled by the state Government. I think that was my hypothesis. Is the news coverage and outrage low because it is a congress govt ? I mean a single fist fight happens in Gujarat and it will be all over the news !!
