kubrickian Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Bowlers are trying more often to bowl fuller and wider at the death and it has been working so far. Even if its given a wide, the penalty is only 1 run but if the bowlers gets away with it, you get a dot ball or if the batsman attempts to hit, it will be tough to score a boundary especially with the right field placement. Good strategy that seems to be helping bowlers.
Old guy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Us has been going on for som time now but it works with some batsmen and others will absolutely hammer wide deliveries For dhoni it's perfect but some one can abdv will love to get bit of room and smash it anywhere on off side ..

If a yorker is not bowled right, it becomes a half volley or a full toss and becomes easy to hit. When the ball is bowled wide, even if its a low full toss, its much tougher to slog.

When the ball is bowled wide, even if its a low full toss, its much tougher to slog.[/quote'] Again depends on batsman Some will find it difficult to hit low full toss which is straight but will easily time it for boundary on off side For bowlers again it depends ...someone who can get bit of in swing going will obviously prefer ball at stumps but steyn normally bowls just fullish wider balls and does all right He will never be able to bowl Yorker at stump as effectively ..

So you need to throw in a bouncer some slower balls etc Yes, obviously you need variety but rather than attempting to bowl yorkers on middle stump like many bowlers do at the death, I reckon its better to bowl wider and fuller.
