dhoni now is good when others have laid a platform for him to take sometime to get set while rain is someone who can always biff 30-35 without taking much time. While yuvi in his prime could set up matches & go berserk at the end.

Dhoni just doesnt has the ability to start hitting from ball 1 , period. Give him a equation of 60 runs in 50 balls and he will do the job more often than not by converting the 60 off 50 into 12 off 6 and then finishing it in style. Thats like making an easy chase difficult and then finishing it. Maxwell , Pollard , Gayle , Mc Cullum , Raina , Yuvi , AB all of them can start scoring big right from the first ball , there is a reason why Dhoni is so crap in T20 Internationals. Dhoni has no fastest Fifties or Hundreds in Internatonal Cricket because he always needs time to set.

In domestic cricket he has scored the fastest fifties. In clt20 he scored a 50 off 18 balls. He can hit big from the beginning but he usually takes time to settle down.
