Something like that was required today but he came to bat too late. Is he himself not sure of his calibre anymore?
BeautifulGame Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Both Jaipur and Vizag were ODIs . Here the match was alrealy lost when KXIP finished batting.Sensible to promote Faf and jadeja who needed time in the middle so that will be useful for CSK in the latter stages of the tournament.
vvvslaxman Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 He has very very limited arc. If you shut those areas you can quieten him. In one dayers he has plenty of time to warm up for big hitting. In T20 he hardly gets any time.

Probably age playing tricks on him.. they are on top of the points table, yet he is thinking too much: it's very important in a tournament like this, looking to score 230 and getting out for 130, then in the coming games we wouldn't be able to make it up. Agreed. but having lost only two matches that too to Maxwell blinders you should trust your team to do better. You can't be so pessimistic to believe that you can't make it up for a bad loss after being in the top for so long. Thats just plain pathetic thinking.

Deep down he does not believe in himself in a T20 scenario. He can handle an asking rate of 12 or 13 over the course of 2 overs. He cannot do over a period of 12 or 13 overs.

putrevus Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 if Dhobi had done anything of note in t20s for India we could have said he did not want to lose out on net run rate but he has never scored anywhere after that 44 in 2007. other than odis he should not be in the team for rest of the formats.

One day is perfect for him. Taking singles and having a feel for 10 or 15 overs and go ballistic in the end.
gattaca Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 good thread he looks more interested in money than the young dhoni who was in winning. I remember his inning against Pakistan and Srilanka during his debut I thought an indian who can bat bravely and win matches now he doesn't look that way.

Its good to see that he is finally being exposed . Dhoni is not even half as good as a Yuvraj or a Raina who are two of the best T20 players from India yet is hyped as if hes the Indian version of a Gayle , Pollard and Maxwell. Cant believe that this rubbish player is among the highest paid in IPL.

His reputation as one of the best finishers in world cricket is unquestionable. He was one of the very few who could turn a very good yorker into a 6. I agree today he is not the best big hitter, there are people who can out do him in that department, but for god-sake understand he has been around in Indian cricket for a decade, must have been one of the most scrutinized batsmen in the Indian lineup. Both yuvi and raina have gone through bad patches (yuvi is going through the worst time of his life now) and unlike Dhoni have weaknesses which can be exploited even in subcontinent conditions to get them out. He is 32 now, not the same 22 year old who set the scoreboard on fire. he takes his time these days. If he stays long enough he does manages to cart the bowlers around at the end. He is not as effective as a he used to be, because bowlers have a figured out means to keep him quite thats what happens when you play for so long. you get figured out. Come back when Maxwell in 32, lets see if he is still the same big hitting beast that bowlers have no answer to. He is just a couple of years old into international cricket and has just started berserking, he will also be figured out.

Old guy Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 There is difference between getting set and hitting big and hitting big from very start This difference is the reason he is average in t20 while in Odis he gradually starts hitting and no bowler is spared at end
