I think BJP will have to develop some talent in the first 2-3 years of this govt. I feel it makes my case stronger that we could have gone for specialists this time around. I know Modi is smart enough to consider it but just can't figure out what his political calculation was

That has potential for misuse no?Prime Minister can basically chose anyone.
Exactly and that's not misuse. Its the prerogative of the PM to choose his cabinet. Ultimately ministry is for governance of whole country and being look Sabha MP is for single constituency. For this exact miscrepency that Rajya sabha was created .

People were saying how there was going to be fast decision making and a decisive Govt. Usually the portfolios are given out even before the oath taking ceremony so that ministers can start work immediately after taking oath but here the portfolios are still not given out many hours after the oath taking ceremony.

I was talking about the 'fast decision making' - it's foolish to not declare portfolios even after oath taking ceremony. Edit - announced just now.

Most of the portfolios announced are the same as NDTV has been showing since before the oath taking ceremony. So I guess portfolios were decided but not declared...

I hope Namo realizes how important nuclear is to the future of the country (particularly Thorium). First thorium commercial prototype is supposed to be ready by the end of the year but the testing may go on for better part of the next decade. Namo needs to throw money and speed up the process. If DAE can deliver the first reactor before 2019 - It could be the most important achievement of Namo's term. China has pretty much cornered the coal and oil market. So may as well jump on the alternative bandwagon a decade earlier than previously envisioned.
