In UP it has been a very strong rumor for a while now that if BJP does well then many SP MLAs are ready to jump ship. BJP has done extremely well in UP so I think it could happen. Also, this is THE best possible chance for BJP to come back to power in UP - assembly elections are to happen in 3 years time so obviously if they have a chance to have polls now then they will go for it.
