World cricket is looking for the next No 1 team and Indian team has it all to make that spot home in both test and ODIs BUT will we make it ours ? Aus- SL test series will be an early indicator of how big a force Aus are post warne-mcgrath in test. With Gilly and Hayden nearing the retirement Aussie will be vulnerable at top. If you look around test teams NZ are consistent but no champs. SA minus kallis are an ordinary side. SL has a few aging stars so they also will have to do some level of rebuilding. We just beat Eng and WI at home and Pak are just a shadow of what they were 5 yrs ago. In ODIs things are little closer but given our bench strength we can be a force. There are so many things going in our favor. We have a young aggressive seam attack. We have above avg off spinners. Young batsman atleast in ODIs are coming along well and barring the seniors we are a good fielding side. All we need is stable test openers and start grooming middle order batsman and a leg spinner. If only our selectors had some sort of vision and guts to sort the selection mess they have got into that No 1 spot is our for taking. PLEASE PLEASE lets not mess it up this time.

The thread you are talking about you only read the title not the post and thats where the problem lies. While BCCI is busy looking at every possible way of squeezing more money and selectors bending over to meet popular demands NOT one person is looking ahead at the future which in my opinion could be a glorious one. All i want to say lets look beyond temporary and above all superficial solutions.
