BlueBee Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 My question is why would anyone go for a hartchback for 25-30L range when you have awesome sedans from the lesser brands with similar quality. I m just wondering why wouldn't these BMW and Benz walas price these cars at less than 15L to avoid overlap. As per me, in India High End cars known to the common people are Mercedes, BMW, Rolls-Royce and Audi. None of the prevailing brands fall into it and japanese definitely not. Here we are not talking about Porsche, Bentley, Jaguar etc. Mercedes, Audi and BMW never launched any cars for the common people. These cars remained to be a dream for them and exorbitant maintenance cost kept the dream, a dream. The VW, Honda, Suzuki, Toyota etc have launched better products than Merc, BMW etc but among common people they were not at par.

Will you choose hatch with less specifications over a much luxurious sedan with an overlapping price?

There are no local car manufacturers here. Maruthi collaborates with Suzuki for petrol engines and design, and they literally have fiat diesel engines. Tata also uses fiat engines. Even Ambassador had isuzu engine. Mahindra and Ashok Leyland both developed home made diesel engines, but they aren't comepeting with these VW and Mercedes both pay the customs duty and assebled in Pune. BMW is assembled in Chennai.

It's a top notch and built with high details and lame compared to a camry. I got stuck in speed breakers twice, less head room and leg rooms, no reverse cameras, noisy A/C, no fog lamps (very useful in coimbatore and ooty). The engine is very powerful but lacks practicality, jumps all over on bumpy roads, the only saving grace is the large wheel base.

Its the same engine, but in different states of tune. Why aren't they giving test drives????? Write to Skoda India.

That thing is CRAMPED! And I'm not that tall as well. They shall really need to soften up the suspension for india too....

Funny fact is, before 3 or 4 yrs, anyone could buy a laura. you just need to pay 20k, they fill up all the forms for you, give a lot of discounts, reduce the interest for emi generously, and the car will be delivered right away :cantstop:
