Detonator Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 BMW 1 Series Mercedes A class Audi Q3 (I don't prefer Audi though :headshake: ) Just need to know whether buying a hatchback for 30L is worthy than to buy the similar priced sedans like Nissan Teana, Skoda Superb, VW Passat, Toyota Camry or even DC Avanti.

As a car enthusiast you should know that .. Comparing this with brands like Merc, BMW and Audi is sheer nonsense. Any car enthusiast would like to go for a Merc(hatch) rather than a Toyota Sedan

Any car enthusiast would like to go for a Merc(hatch) rather than a Toyota Sedan Well, Audi's parent company is VW. Toyota sells more number of cars than many others combined. Infact, I drove a Toyota Prius petrol, I find it much better than BMW 328 sport petrol (only thing I liked is the heavy push u get in a RWD car, almost like a bike wheeling). imo, a less known volvo s80 feels much better than audi s6. I find these higher end toyotas and nissans are on par with BMW's and Audi's. I m just wondering how these hatches are better than the sedans of the same price tag.

For me it looks slightly larger than the A class. The ground clearance is at a hatch level. I really dont know which segment this car belongs. :cantstop:

Holysmoke Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 If you want the Brand and nothing else, you can go for these.. if its not going to be the best car in your garage.. these cars like 1 series etc are good secondary luxury cars.. like u can have a 7 series and a 1 series... for 30 lacs.. my recommendation would be if the back seat is going to be used, get the skoda superb. if you enjoy dynamics and powerrrrrr... get the 180bhp octavia.

Convertible is a worst choice for India. One of my friend's dad owns this. He said, birds will drop on ur head, mosquitos, dust, smoke everything comes inside the car. People on buses might try to spit inside. Another one. This cute little thing is smaller than mini and only 7L cheaper.

They are not giving the new octavia for test drive :whine: Engine is same for both octavia and superb. Superb is wider, longer, bigger radial tyres, etc., You are right Superb is for backseat, octavia is more of a driver's car. :two_thumbs_up:

I m just wondering why wouldn't these BMW and Benz walas price these cars at less than 15L to avoid overlap.

I guess price of most of these german cars tend to increase because of one thing ..ie customs duty ,which is too much in India.In reality it is kept ton the higher side so that local manufacturers aren't affected and it makes a lot of sense that way .
