When Rajnath spoke to diplomats in Hindi' date= no one understood, and all was well http://scroll.in/article/671087/When-Rajnath-spoke-to-diplomats-in-Hindi,-no-one-understood,-and-all-was-well India's foreign diplomats really are screwing up things - first it was Modi's stop at Berlin when it was obvious that Angela Merkel would be in Brazil watching the Final and now this.
Shushma Foreign minister... Most of the babus in MEA are from Congress era. That Akbaruddin guy is still there. Modi forgot to change the MEA babus.. He's paying the price... He's become complacent... He's given Shushma and Jaitley too much of free hand...

Left wing journos still banging on about Hindi v English debate :cantstop: It is good to know that Modi kicked out all news traders off Air India One except for the state media in his recent oversea visits. No more foreign junkets and access to the inner circle like in the times of the silent one, MMS. Also, out of context, but from the article, one can't help but see inferiority complexity written all over the author,:headshake:
English to Hindi translations are tricky at the best of times. Anyone watching a Bollywood movie on any airplane would know. There’s often the embarrassing moment when one is sitting next to an European or American person who is reading a subtitle like, “Oh girl, why you torment my heart so that it tears my tendons?†for a simple Hindi line like, “Tum pyar nahi karte ho mujh se?â€, and he turns and looks to you with a “Are these people serious?†look.

You and your kaanspiracy theories  As far as the BRICS summit is concerned, Sushma Swaraj wasn't involved at all - it was a complete Modi show. He controlled everything so why not blame him? As for Jaitley - what has he done wrong?

You have completely missed the point. It is not about which language he used (although it would obviously have been easier if he had used English as more people in the audience would have understood it without the need of a translator). If he was using a language which most of the people in the audience could not understand then he should have made sure beforehand that translators were there or at least he should have informed the Indian Foreign Service People that he speech would be in Hindi.

Not fault of diplomats when they have to deal with such comedians..

So speaking in hindi in India is comedy? No wonder AAPians have such low self esteem of themselves.
No.. But making Hindi a point to prove your nationalism is. One can very well be an English speaker and much more patriotic than Modi/Rajnath.

That was not the point, was it? The minister is well within his rights to speak in hindi, the reason for that might be anything, but that's his right, and he is rightfully entitled to do that, isn't he? Yes, absence of translations was odd, but blame that on the organizers, not the minister.

Are you nuts? How can merely speaking in Hindi be making a point to prove nationalism? Is there a Martial Law imposed that everybody has to speak in English else he/she will be blamed for stoking Nationalism? If somebody's language is not English he/she can't be allowed to speak to the diplomats? There's some serious issues with the Babus in MEA... BJP needs to weed out the career Congressi moles... There has been a series of gaffes off late...

Bias clearly shows just like niti central.
The fact that Rajnath Singh spoke in Hindi while there was no simultaneous translation going on - that is true. As for the bias - whenever Modi or anyone from his sarkar is criticized, his fans will see bias so no surprises there.

A lot of these are op-eds. Niticentral is on a completely different hyper plane because it is not even pro-BJP but pro-Modi. In the run up to BJP naming their PM candidate, NC ran a concerted campaign against LK Advani.
