Even I found it strange but I have few Kannadiga friends and know some Tamilians too who have mutual 'love' for one another. Not really as intense as Indo-Pak but still the love is there. Its the same for Andhra and Telangana region people too. Few days ago two Andhra guys I know were bad mouthing telangana people intentionally in front of me and awaiting my reaction. I never told them I am from telangana but my dialect was a sure give away to them. I realized they were intentionally provoking me and just ignored them. There are more regionalistic people that you think exists. :((

There is another dispute in hogenakkal between the two states now. Its never ending. There is a silent underbelly of animosity towards each other. It is actually raked up by the politicians to gain votes. Go to any of the cauvery reservoirs in both the states u will realise the ground reality..

But the stereotype of mallus, who say "ungle" instead of uncle and most men who invariably have tennis elbows from all the pumping of petrol in the "gelf" is absolutely true, so is the stereotype that all bakeries are from bangalore iyengars and all tea shops are from nairs.

If you come across someone who wears diamond rings on all her fingers,talks about her expensive designer clothes and her children in u.k/canada who are rolling in money yet will try and cheat on her cable bill If you come across someone who will never miss on going to gurudwara/temple,be the frontrunner for prabhat pheri and jagrans and will wear their religion on their sleeve and yet employ a child from a poorer part of india as a servant,treat them like dirt and rather than get them treated,will dump them when they fall sick. and finally if you come across someone who will spend thousands on organising religious functions in civic space where all the besuri aunties of the world will disturb everyones sleep yet will not spend the couple of hundreds to clean up the mess later,you are speaking to a delhite who is most probably a punjabi. In general punjabis are not easy to like as they can like bongs be too full of themselves.however a true stereotype about us is that we are on avg the best looking people in india. Gujjus are generally the go-getter,confident types.They re stingy but thats cause most of the time they are saving money to send to india.they've a strong sense of community where they help their fellow gujus and whoever else they think is part of the community. Its not easy being neat and clean when you're dirt poor.If you come across someone who is poor yet wearing clean clothes,speaks in a rather nice accent and is obsessed with getting his/her kids to a good school,preferably english medium,chances are they are from bihar.
