Djokovic deserves to win after losing so many GS finals. Federer played excellent for the most part' date=' would have beaten his buddies Roddick, Hewitt etc easily.[/quote'] Yeah.. as usual he looks invincible until he plays one of the top players. And its amazing that Federer has maintained those standards even after so many years. With this game he could have easily beaten with any of his opposites from 2004-06 time. Congrats to Djokovic. He deserved to win something after all those loses in 2013-14. He deserves to end with a GS count of 10+.

Depends on Murray's level too. He is a very good grass court player, certainly not a pushover. He played excellent against Federer in 2012 here, both at Wimbledon and Olympics. But otherwise your comment is true. There are hardly any *easy* slam in this era. You have to beat the best to win on most occasions.

Federer should retire now.
He is not going anywhere. IMO he will play at least 2-3 more years unless he starts losing in the early rounds at slams. He is playing much better now than last year. With a bit of luck he can still win slams. He almost did it here. Even in Australia had he managed to avoid Nadal, he would have most likely won it.

I like to say it is an awesome match. But it had lot of mediocre moments.
Hmm really, not 'a lot of' ! the first set was majestic the rest did not quite live up to it... Feds come back in the 4th, was down to Novak kinda losing it thats true. There werent lots of long brutal rallies as were used to seeing in a Rafa/Novak/Murray match.

Fully fit Murray is a better grass court player than Novak

Got to love the subtle trolling from the Rafa fans. Federer played at a very high level but not quite his peak 2003-2007 well, quite a difference really. The thing about him is, he has been very consistent and doesn't miss slams citing injury nor does he quit in the middle of matches or take dubious timeouts, so chill out Rafa fans. Federer even past his peak didn't struggle to make it past the third round at particular grandslams nor was he being dumped by random 19 year olds and no names. For all the talk of this great era, Federer stopped a Djokovic on a rampage in 2011 on his least favourite surface possibly....in a year where the clay God couldn't buy a win against Djo. That Federer managed to turn back the clock today when he is all of 33 and go toe to toe with the current number 1 in the world adds to his greatness, not detract from it. He wasn't getting pwned by no names when he was 28 like certain other players and at 33 he is still good enough to look the best in the world in the eye and push him to the hilt. Great game, well done Djo. Thoroughly deserved.

It would have been nicer to have to seen him crush Nadal in the final' date=' but a 5 setter vs the GOAT will do.[/quote'] You can take some solace from the fact that with this win Djokovic dethroned Nadal from no. 1. I am pretty happy with Djokovic win. He is an absurd fighter and very graceful winner (and loser), a true champion through all means.

Congrats to Djokovic for becoming number 1 again. Just goes to show how hard it is to stay there for long, particularly hard when you win mostly on one surface and then get dumped out in the others. Hopefully Djo will build enough of a lead by the time the next dust bowl slam comes around.

will roger federer ever win another GS again?
If he plays like he did today, he can win a slam. Funnily enough, if he avoids Nadal at RG he probably has a fair shot there....but Nadal will never lose there. At Wimbledon he probably has one last crack left; can certainly see him taking US or Aus if things go his way.
