The Lankan trundler attack vs pace theory

Why was he dropped then? He was the 2nd or 3rd best highest wicket taker in Ipl matches before he was rested by the management considering his fitness.
He was rested does not mean he was unfit and later they tried different combinations and he was a bit expensive in last few matches which is expected when you play so many matches at Chinnaswamy.

Oh. Come on. Do you think RCB team management is naive to drop Varun Aaron to accommodate Dinda in the team? Whenever varun was dropped they played Dinda. Lol. Had varun played all the ipl matches, he would have ended up becoming the highest wicket taker.

You really need to depend on the pitch for anything and the weather. One thing i noticed in last years ashes and even this series. Win the toss and bat!!!!
Last Years Ashes' were made for the Aussie weakness of spin and to help Jimmy extract reverse swing which is he good at. England doesn't have a frontline spinner, so yeah it depends but you would think in theory that England would prefer green decks but their batting is in shambles and their bowling has been too short and wide.

Later they did not play both Aaron and Dinda and instead Nechim played but nothing worked for them. They were rotating players.

No, I don't think he was injured but it seemed like they didn't want to risk him as he lacked fitness to play matches continuously.

No' date=' I don't think he was injured but it seemed like they didn't want to risk him as he lacked fitness to play matches continuously.[/quote'] That was precautionary due to his injury record, but he has not been injured since his come back in September. He had a recurrent L5 injury which has been taken care of by surgery. If he had not had surgery, it would still have been causing issues. Injuries are the part of genuine fast bowlers life. You cannot think that he will get injured not play them. That way a lot of genuine pacers would never have played.

Yeah, but don't you think he should play more ODIs and test his fitness before he gets picked for test matches. ? Well, anyway our selectors picked him for tests. Not his fault.

Needs to bowl lots of overs in the two FC games and see how his body copes with it. That is why I always thought him playing more FC cricket was more important than playing ODIs in NZ and then Asia cup. Have a feeling he will initially struggle to bowl 18-20 overs a day.

Sri Lankan pacers maynot be very talented but they bowl with full effort and often try to bowl to a plan. Our pacers are more talented in terms of ability to move the ball etc. but they , more often than not, bowl without much effort and generally don't bowl to a plan with rare exceptions like Zaheer. Ishant Sharma is capable of bowling 135 to 145 k but we often see him bowling 125 to 135 k. Munaf Patel, RP, Sreesanth etc. were often guilty of the same thing. Most Indians pacers do not like to bowl bouncers as it requires more effort. Lakmal and co. bowl as quickly as they can , whatever that pace might be, and always try bouncers.
No matter how much you analyze' date=' dissect.. as individuals Srilankan bowlers are pathetic bowlers. They worked as a team with good tactics aided by some ridiculous batting from England. We should never use this as a template. I rate Indian pacers above this pathetic Lungan bowling any day skillwise. But generally lungans have better onfield tactics. Also they can create artificial pressure on the field with endless screaming lol. If Dhoni instructs Ashwin to bowl outside the leg to cotnain runs then we can't buy a wicket.[/quote'] yeah they are much better :hysterical: this is the last time i fall for the idiotic indian hype machine

Sri Lanka has not produced a single world class pacer in their history, neither have we. So, no reason for you guys to rejoice really.

I expect a better effort from Bhuvi. he's the most talended bowler of the lot. Shouldn't look into the bowling effort of this game into too much detail. No bowler was bowled in long spells to maintain consistency.

I was talking about test matches . In ODIs , India has produced good pacers too. In tests .... Vaas -- 355 wickets from 111 tests @ 3.2 wickets per test. Average of 29.6 and strike rate of 66. Malinga -- 101 wickets from 30 tests @ 3.3 wickets per test . Average of 33.15 and strike rate of 51. Very average.

Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Mohammed Nissar, Vaas, Malinga are world class. They may not be ATG, but definitely class.

lankan bowlers are much better than our bowlers. this is a fact.
Even Bangladeshi bowlers bowl with more interest, effort and purpose than our bowlers. As far as application and utilization of talent goes, our bowlers are even worse than Afghanistan and Holland. I get the feeling that nobody in our country has any genuine interest in the art and activity of bowling in cricket. Bowlers bowl because they cannot bat but want to be in the Indian cricket team for fame and money. Indian batsmen, on the other hand, have a HUGE interest in the art and activity of batting.
