Player X is almost certainly Chris Cairns. Also, Brendon McCullum was the international player who rebuffed Player X's approach (twice) and subsequently reported it to the ICC. Apparently, that happened in 2008. Given it's been 6 years since that happened, do we have any idea why it's taken so long for the ICC to get off it's butt? Perhaps something to do with the fact that Lalit Modi was being ousted and the powers that be thought it would be nice for him to lose his case against Cairns?

Yeah looks to be Chris Cairns. Also, Mr X mentions that all big boys in international cricket do it. That's quite a statement isn't it? I don't think Brandon reported this to ICC then. He has opened up now and hence would face some breach of code of conduct.

according to NZC: "We understand there might have been a small delay in reporting the approaches but we know this has been canvassed by the ICC and they have no issues with it, at all." http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/10060098/McCullums-hero-tried-to-bribe-him-report The question is, how small of a delay is a small delay? Are we talking weeks? Months? Years?

Small delay is subjective isn't it? There are too many moving parts here for us to speculate. Apparently, after the clear up actions of 2000, we felt this should fix things. But, it doesn't seem to have happened. The way Mr X has explained things to Brandon, it looks like fixing was always there.

Because the ICC is incompetent since Speed was done with it. I think the saying that all the big boys do it is more enticing them like "Everyone does it' than actually the big boys doing it. When I heard Super star of NZ cricket I thought Carins because Astle and Fleming don't fit the bill and Vettori doesn't seem like it. No one else would be considered a superstar during that period.

Cricket rocked by Lou Vincent fixing Scandal

last Ashes had too many weird things happening' date=' lEngland losing 5-0 to that weak Aussie team and all other things which happened during and after that series raise series questions.[/quote'] Yea, sure mate. Are you taking credit away from Johnson? And no, Aussie team is not 'weak' as you think- Eng are shite btw.

Let's assume PLayer X ain't Carins. There is a possibility for Craig McMillian, Nathan Astle, Adam Parore, Chris Harris, Shane Bond, Scott Styris or even a Jacob Oram.

Player X was part of Vincent's ICL team. It's either Chris Cairns, or at a real stretch, Dinesh Mongia. But really, it's Cairns.

As the International Cricket Council (ICC) reviews the role of its Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU), a top officer of the unit was reportedly found having links with an Indian bookie during the World Twenty20 in Dhaka in March-April this year. Dhaka-based TV channel Bangla Tribune Tuesday released audio recording of a purported conversation between Dharamveer Singh Yadav, ICC ACSU's regional officer from India, and alleged bookie Atanu Dutta during the India-Pakistan encounter in World Twenty20 March 21. The channel said Dutta was arrested by police officials in Dhaka but was later released after Yadav allegedly told the officials that he was his informer.

so what exactly are they going to do? ICL was an unsanctioned unofficial league. So what if CC and Vincent spot fixed in it. Apart from knowing who the spot fixers were the ICC cant really do anything right? Both Vincent and CC are retired anyways. If county games were fixed then IMO it can happen that both vincent and cains can be taken to court and jailed

a couple of things: a) According to McCullum's testimony, Cairns tried to induce him into match fixing the IPL as well as the Black Caps tour of England in 2008. These obviously were ICC events. . b) Matchfixing is illegal in England, so Cairns would be prosecuted for the county games. c) The biggest worry for Cairns is that since he took Modi to court in England and won, if he's found guilty of fixing he'll be charged with perjury. I still can't understand why the ICC has been sitting on this for 6 years.
