Let's hope Akashdeep pulls up his socks and do something.
I am 100% sure, Akashdeep's success will keep Mukesh at bay. If Akashdeep fails, the lobby will jump back to their "wonder boy" and will start backing him in all formats.

If we are forced to pick a 128 to 137 k pacer, Arshdeep is preferable for me as he has a high release point, a better bouncer, a better yorker, more swing upfront and more bounce off length these days.

Seam bowling from medium height, like Akash, needs atleast 135 to 140 / 142 k kind of pace on slow tracks.

I haven’t watched a lot of him since he’s come back. But if he’s averaging 131k ish that’s absolutely embarrassing. Even lower than what I was expecting his long term average to be.

Akash has been much slower after return from dengue.

Needs to up his pace.

Our spinners do not impart any good revs on the ball. And more often than not the opposition spinners end up being more effective if there’s any assistance.

If the spinners get outclassed by all rounders like Phillips that’s a bit of an embarrassment.

On top of that, these guys struggle even more overseas. Every single time Lyon has outclassed these Indian spinners. Same story in England.

They should show the revs on the ball for the spinners like they do in England.

During the 2015 to mid 2022 period, we saw so many Indians reversing the ball at 137 k to 145 k / 148 k in tests in India.

First Umesh and Shami .. then Bumrah and Shami.

Nowadays both the reverse swing is missing and the pace is missing.

We are seeing straightish deliveries at 132 k to 140 k mostly.

That honeymoon phase has been gone for a while now. When was the last time we had 2 pacers bowling quick for more than match?

I remember one match when Deep played his first. Besides that has there been any?

I have a question. What is Deeps role in the team btw? Which is he on the field if he’s never going to bowl?

He is terribly underbowled in all games so far (except maybe his first test).
Yeah, he gave runs. But he induced lot of edges as well.
Jadeja too has leaked runs on his supposedly favourable pitch. Rohit need to stop being so defensive.

Decline is only noticed after for a few years, sometimes.

Bumrah has already declined since 2019. After returning from injury in 2020 January, he was no longer able to HTD or extract zip.

NZ dominated him in February 2020, but Bumrah dominated them in 2017.

Therein lies evidence of decline

Rohit is one stubborn character. Problem gets magnified when  stubbornness is combined with dumbness. And that’s precisely his case.

Agree, just like batting and bowling. Even captaincy needs slightly different planning in Tests in comparison to T20 or ODI.
