I am 100% sure, Akashdeep's success will keep Mukesh at bay. If Akashdeep fails, the lobby will jump back to their "wonder boy" and will start backing him in all formats. If we are forced to pick a 128 to 137 k pacer, Arshdeep is preferable for me as he has a high release point, a better bouncer, a better yorker, more swing upfront and more bounce off length these days. Seam bowling from medium height, like Akash, needs atleast 135 to 140 / 142 k kind of pace on slow tracks. Mosher 1

But if he’s averaging 131k ish that’s absolutely embarrassing. Even lower than what I was expecting his long term average to be. Akash has been much slower after return from dengue. Needs to up his pace. Edited October 25, 2024 by express bowling MK55 and Mosher 2
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Why are there so few people in catching positions in a low scoring match ? What kind of defensive mindset is this !! Lord and Mosher 1 1
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Give Bumrah a spell now. Spinners have not threatened that much. Mosher 1
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Our spinners are not looking dangerous on a supposedly turning track !! WTF is happening ? Is the ball too new for all out spin ? Mosher 1
MK55 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Our spinners do not impart any good revs on the ball. And more often than not the opposition spinners end up being more effective if there’s any assistance. If the spinners get outclassed by all rounders like Phillips that’s a bit of an embarrassment. On top of that, these guys struggle even more overseas. Every single time Lyon has outclassed these Indian spinners. Same story in England. They should show the revs on the ball for the spinners like they do in England. Mosher and express bowling 2
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Jadeja going at 8 runs an over. Ashwin at 5.5 Mosher 1
MK55 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Bumrah’s bowling speeds this match have been disappointing. He’s only gonna be given a few overs on a pitch like this. Needs to put in more intensity. Mosher 1
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Are lower speeds being registered ? Checked all the deliveries by O'Rourke. 17 of his 18 deliveries have been at 130.x kph to 137.x kph. One at 139+. Mosher 1
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 During the 2015 to mid 2022 period, we saw so many Indians reversing the ball at 137 k to 145 k / 148 k in tests in India. First Umesh and Shami .. then Bumrah and Shami. Nowadays both the reverse swing is missing and the pace is missing. We are seeing straightish deliveries at 132 k to 140 k mostly. Mosher 1
MK55 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 I have a question. What is Deeps role in the team btw? Which is he on the field if he’s never going to bowl?
express bowling Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Bumrah down on accuracy, pace, movement and bounce. Despite bowling just 14 overs so far in the entire match and just 6 overs in this innings. Mosher 1
MK55 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 I’m more excited of our LOI attack now. Mayank and soon Harshit. We need Umran back to keep them on their toes. Batters r fearless. This test team is way past their expiry date. express bowling 1

That honeymoon phase has been gone for a while now. When was the last time we had 2 pacers bowling quick for more than match? I remember one match when Deep played his first. Besides that has there been any?

He is terribly underbowled in all games so far (except maybe his first test). Yeah, he gave runs. But he induced lot of edges as well. Jadeja too has leaked runs on his supposedly favourable pitch. Rohit need to stop being so defensive.
vignesh12345 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Decline is only noticed after for a few years, sometimes. Bumrah has already declined since 2019. After returning from injury in 2020 January, he was no longer able to HTD or extract zip. NZ dominated him in February 2020, but Bumrah dominated them in 2017. Therein lies evidence of decline
vignesh12345 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Bumrah in 2018/19 bowled like he wasn't even Indian. Since injury (2020), even when he bowls well, he bowls like he knows he's Indian.
