JourneyMan Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Hey guys. I'm going back to the motherland in a couple of months. I want to buy something useful for my relatives over there (I already got them things like jewellery/watches/shirts etc.. in the past, and they have enough of that stuff already). I was thinking of an electric oven, but someone discouraged me from it because of power cuts. I tried looking for one on the internet but most stores only seem to sell microwave ovens. Anyone got any ideas?
beetle Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Why buy oven from there? You get everything here ...besides if something gets spoilt,it is easier to get it serviced if it is bought in mother land. You can try these..... Buy chocolates from the duty free shop(or daaru if people drink).Later on take out people for outing and treat them to a nice dinner .....someplace they wouldn't normally go. If relatives are old....buy them full medical check up. If they are heavily into tv...replace their old tv with a nice bigger one.
beetle Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Elaborate relatives?:--D How many...age ? If you live in a joint family...get a second tv so that people can view cricket/football while the saas bahu seriels are on.:--D
beetle Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Relace the old phones...get new tv remote.Buy AC or cooler if required or replace.Get your mom/who ever cooks a fan in the kitchen.
JourneyMan Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Guys thanks for your replies. I wasn't going to buy the oven from here, I was going to buy it in India itself. Relatives = aunt and uncle. They are in their 50's.
