There are more IPL suckers in India than you imagine... Many don't even understand what Test cricket is...

More fans + more viewership + more money = more kids inspired to take up the sport.

Claim that Dhoni has surpassed Sachin, Dravid, etc but don't realize that their popularity was built on years of hard work, not T20 and IPL popularity.
