When Sehwag used to avg 20 in NZ , 25 in SA and 27 in ENG When Sehwag used to get out in the first few overs to Hoggard ,Anderson,Broad,Steyn, Morkel...etc When Sehwag used to get out caught at 3rd man with a wild swing outside off in the first few overs of a Test. Kidhar gaye woh din......

Guys, seriously TRPs and interest in test cricket is going downhill - very very rapidly in India. BCCI lost a golden chance to consolidate cricket in India and develop it into something very proprietory when they decided to adopt a confused policy - a strangulated IPL schedule where it was bracketed into just a couple of months when it was earning 80% of the eyeballs and a good amount of revenue. And then they shook in front of white masters UK and Aus and wanted to somehow satisfy a miniscule percentage of the population who really cared about tests by going overboard and scheduiling ridiculously scheduled 4-5 test series in Eng and Aus. Nonsensical, given little amount of thinking went into the scheduling and state of Indian cricket presently. Absolutely brainless thing to do, test cricket should be played, but keeping in mind what is its current market acceptability. Time for the board to digest this hard fact, Indian test cricket is a sore that is fast becoming a cancer and the earlier that is cut off the better. BCCI needs to develop a few balls, stomp down its authority, understand where it's mouth is at, and work towards fortifying that, which is the IPL. Use its influence to ensure that sufficient foreign interest is retained in the IPL and work towards expanding its presence in the cricketing calendar. And play the occassional 2-3 test match series just for the relationship purposes. Did anybody "praise" the BCCI for agreeing to a 5 test series? Did anybody realistically put an effort to tabulate the sheer effort needed to pull it off, the impact on the young players? And with the Anderson-Jadeja episode, we all know what ECB is and where they stand. Why the need to propitiate such idiots then? Time to please the remaining boards, - the NZ, the CSA, the WI, the SL and if needed the Pak and assure their players in our IPL. Put in a firm word with the individual boards, and if they don't play ball, arrange for defections. The world needs to be reminded India cannot play the all suffering benefactor anymore. Time to make them play by our rules.

Sehwag and Gambhir going away really was a big blow. you look at Laxman Dravid Sachin Ganguly. These guys were of the same age profile and were expected to go within a few years of each other. It was upto the likes of GG and Sehwag to continue for the next 3-4 years before the middle order established itself again. A clicking sehwag and gg would have meant that the new ball would certainly have been plunted. Its the bridging generation between Sachin-Dravid-Laxman (40s) and Kohli-Pujara-Rahane (26) which has failed. and by bridging generation i am talking about Sehwag Gambhir Bhajji in the tests and Sehwag Gambhir Bhajji and Yuvraj singh (maybe he can be excused due to cancer) in the limited overs. The youth under captain Ganguly failed when India needed it the most.

++++. Even now I dont see any effort from Sehwag, Harbhajan to get back to test cricket.GG tried his best in that aspect by playing atleast in few county matches to get some form back. If Sehwag, GG and Bhajan still perform atleast 75% of what they were in 2007, this team will not have so much problems. ITs almost we lost 2 generation of players between 2011-2014.Finger to BCCI.

You do have a point. Lets be honest, how many of us have time to watch an entire test match, unless there are vacations and we are sitting idle at home and not travelling anywhere?

In India and Pakistan, test format never had traditional value we played tests just for the sake of it. Haar gaye to koi baat nahin, jeet gaye ya draw hua, theek hain. ODI World Cup is what Indian fans take very seriously.
