With a row of unsuccesful innings,I think this is really the end of him.as the commentators said that during todays play..he will be playing for saving his carrier in the 2nd innings .

I was actually surprised how soon he made into this England squad. Thought Compton was a much better opener. They will certainly have more options as more than half of county matches are done with. Another Yorkie Lyth is doing well.

he wasn't ready when they gave him his debut, he looks a limited batsmen and to many obvious weakness to exploit. carberry was a bit unfairly treated but it's not like he did much to push his selection, might not have been as bad as others in the XI against Aus but definitely can't say he forced the issue to select him again. compton had a poor run and wasn't liked so not sure his chances of coming back into the side. if they want to re-trial anyone it should be carberry but if they want someone new then lythe is probably the guy, though alex lees might be worth a thought. they shouldn't move root or ballance up because they are the main reason England's batting has been so strong this series.

There isn't anyone better and he will be okay. Hales doesn't have a lot of county runs so you would be gambling with him and Root loves batting in the middle order
