These are exceptions. The English tour was one of those rare tours where Dhoni was one of our better batsmen. When was the previous time Dhoni played a crucial knock (in a crunch situation) while playing away? Or, in other words how many such knocks has he played in his 10 year old career?

Nobody is asking for pujara or kohlis head....yet. Reality is, they are NOT established bats because they havnt played everywhere with decent success or have 50-60 tests averaging in high 40s or 50s... Thats the established class because thays when you get 15-20tests of poor form...2 or 3 more series failure and both their heads are on chopping block...thats a fact. No captain in history who lost so many matches in a row ever managed to hold on to captaincy. Dhoni himself became captain when he was inexperienced and not suitable for the job, you can know there is no alternative only if you try out the alternatives. No alternatives would be found if you keep playing the same losing captain.

If form is the criteria i wouldn't mind giving it to Bhuvaneswar Kumar over Dhoni. Anybody over this clown.

If Dhoni steps down from captaincy we might just see Dhoni the batsman and Dhoni the keeper becoming better. get a feeling that years of captaincy in the test format (his weakest format) has reduced him as a player.

Nope has awful; technique as batsman which tests expose and poor keeper as awful footwork and inherently lazy due to the corruption which makes him untouchable. When you know untouchable and not accountable for your actions, breeds laziness and results in things like standing back to spinners

You need more runs than 50s if that is the case. Prior, Akmal, all have big 100s in such situations which saved the team. 50s don't count at all in tests

Relaying messages back and forth between camp and executor (captain) already exists but beyond very general gross directing, its impossible (or ten times as much time consuming) to micro manage every single bowling change, field position or bowling stategy. Thats going to remain between the captains and the players.

Yes averaged an amazing 34 with the bat. Plus his keeping was awesome What a legend! Sums up how pathetically low we have stooped under this plonker that 34 average with zero tons is hailed as good

For a wicketkeeper it is good. He is not a specialist batsman
