kira Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Dude you are taking one tournament. That too IPL the most unreliable one. We are talking about batsmanship of both RIGHT NOW. In 2010, Rayudu has better stats (avg, SR) than Yuvi in IPL. In 2012 IPL (where Yuvi didn't play due to cancer), Rayudu had an avg and SR that Yuvi never had in any IPL editions. Does that mean Rayudu was better than Yuvi at that time? In 2014, Uthappa has better stats than Kohli in IPL. Does that mean he is better? If you compare Rayudu as a batsman NOW and Yuvi as a batsman NOW, Rayudu wins. He has the ability to survive the good balls and make some score. Yuvi can't. He can smash a few but one good delivery and he will be gone. Rayudu isn't great (or even good enough) but he is better than Yuvi right now. I didn't just compare stats, I compared Yuvi's worst phase to Rayudu's best phase and Yuvi is still winning.....Even in the worst phase of his career yuvi can produce knocks which rayudu cannot even dream of...Rayudu has no talent and even an out of form ,one legged yuvi batting with a stump will perform better than hackadu 9 out of 10 times....and I don't want yuvi back in the team but if hackadu is there then better to have yuvi instead
G_B_ Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I do believe that India won the champions trophy 2013 without yuvraj... so thats that. Time and tide wait for no man. Yuvi has been a major force behind our wins in 2007 T20 and 2011 WC. Lets just remember him as a LOI great for India and move on. Despite the issue in 2014 T20 WC.

Maybe will click in a match or 2 but will flop horribly in the rest. See his ODI series against Aus in India (where par scores were 350), his performance in SA. Rayudu as rubbish as he may be has outperformed him in the chances he has got in recent times.
sensible-indian Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Rahane/ Rayudu are not long term options. With one slow player Rohit/unreliable player Dhawan India is always going to depend on Dhoni . Earlier we had several players. You are talking about No 4 right? Rahane is a great opening prospect.

Rayudu with a strike rate of 70 needs to score a lot more runs per match to compensate for his tuk tuk, yuvi may fail and get out early but if he clicks he can destroy attacks....from Rayudu you can expect constant rubbish performances which won't win you even a single match. Like I said b4 ,even this broken down version of yuvi played mind blowing innings in this IPL ( even won a match single handedly) which rayudu can't even dream of.

When it comes to mindblowing innings its true. But a few mindblowing innings (in IPL - nothing in international cricket in recent times) doesn't mean much. Yuvi coming in at No 4/5 and getting out for less than 10 every match irrespective of conditions is not a better performance than Rayudu. That's like saying Afridi is a better batsman than Misbah cos he either hits out or gets out. Not comparing those 2 with these 2 as batsmen in general, of course.
kubrickian Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Yuvraj will be a walking wicket in Australia against any half decent seamer. His problems outside off stump against seamers and particularly against short deliveries were quite clearly evident. Some people here don't seem to follow Indian cricket at all and yet keep making these posts about bringing back Yuvraj, Sehwag, Gambhir etc. They looked completely clueless the last time they played for India and rightly dropped. They won't make a comeback at this stage. We have to move on.

Even this washed down version of Yuvi can win you matches ,Rayudu can't Again, not saying bring yuvi back....just saying anything but Rayudu Heck, I will even take Harbhajan the batsman over Rayudu. You are making the same mistake as pakistanis....runs don't matter when they come at a pathetic strike rate. And that analogy with afridi is absolutely disgraceful....please don't insult yuvi

Yuvi is an Indian ODI great but he is hopeless now. Many Pakistanis over-rate or under rate a lot of performances by their players. Saw what happened to Lahore Lions without a serious guy? Misbah isn't as good as his 45 ODI avg nor is he as bad as what people make him out to be. I know you don't want Yuvi but you are clearly talking based on emotions. Clearly evident with your Bhajji hyperbole. Everything points to the fact that Rayudu is better than Yuvi now. He is rubbish too but he is better than Yuvi now.
vijay50 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Iam tired of tuk tuk Maharajs Rayudu and Rohit. They will cost us WC 2015.

Why so much hate for an upcoming cricketer who has just started his career ? Nobody deserves to be written off like that. Rayudu only played about 13 games and scored 4 fifties among them and averages 42 which is very good. He has done well in the opportunities given to them and he has played all his games outside India. As he plays more and gets more confident, his strike rate will improve too. I think you seem to have other batsmen in mind whom you reckon will do a better job than him. Just remember there will be many FTBs coming through FC who look like gods on the batting paradises in IPL and you make them bat on any pitch which has something for bowlers, they won't survive an over.
moniker Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Yuvi looks finished. If he's to play, he should force himself into the team by performing in the domestics. Past performances only get you so far. Rayudu's ODI strike rate is lower than that of even Dravid's and Laxman's. And those two played in many ODIs with just the one 15 over power play. That's saying something. Someone like Jhadhav should be given a chance.
nballa Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 and yuvraj cant be a matchwinner without easing up on the parathas.
sensible-indian Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 why cant we try K. Jadhav? Because BCCI says so.

game_changerr Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 We just had Gambhir. Now people want UV. What next? Sehwag? :haha: gambhir case was really shocking.....he wanted to train with kkr mates in SA than playing in england for india(his tweets on 20th aug)

Marco Polo Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Hackadu sort of players never got a long run during Dada's captaincy and that's when India started play well in world tournaments. Hackadu belongs to the category of Shib Sundar das, deep das Gupta, vikram rathore, Vijay bharadwaj, hrishikesh kanitkar..etc..
game_changerr Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 ^^except dinesh mongia.....wonder y dada used to back him
