vvvslaxman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Best game of the tournament so far. In the second game Carlsen had a Christmas gift from Anand. in this game he was fully prepared. Just owned him from the get go. The way the pawn surged forward was a delight.

He was the organizers' nominee for candidates chess in 2014 ( and drew both games with Anand )... More importantly, he is a cricket enthusiast and plays chess online under the nick name 'Tendulkar' :--D Some old tidbits from here Svidler, the 2011 World Cup champion, is not your usual Russian Grandmaster though. He is a huge cricket fan and has played chess online under the nickname of Tendulkar. He loves cricket so much that he once agreed to play a small tournament in Gibraltar only because the organiser of the tournament promised him some cricket at the nets. He happily sacrifices sleep in order to watch the Ashes live. He is capable of analysing cricket, which he has been following for well over a decade after being introduced to it by English GM Nigel Short. Svidler would be following Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell to cricket too :((, even as Anand takes on Carslen.

Anand's best bet is to keep complicated positions for long time and put Carlsen in time trouble ( but at his age, chances of blunder moves by himself also increase )

He makes some basic errors from time to time. One way he can unsettle carlsen by playing little faster and putting pressure on him with time. He is merely fortifying defense.
