Pan India after sales service, easy availability of spare parts and service by local mechanics , good resale value .these are the reasons why hero is very popular.in local market of delhi/gurgaon you are going to have difficulty in finding spare parts of some models of TVS ,Yamaha Suzuki etc but even a roadside mechanic will have parts of hero bikes

Bajaj tops 150cc and 200-220 cc segments with pulsars and Avengers. Yamaha a distant second. In fact, Hero fell at 5th in 150 segment in October sales. Bajaj on top with 70,000 plus unit sales, Yamaha a distant second about 28,000 unit sales. Cumulative sales Hero is no. one due to its 125 cc or less bikes.

They are launching a new bike globally Hero HX 250R soon that might be the reason.
