zep1706
Saw the final today and Rafa played well, dug in deep at times. But it was a close contest with some wonderful rallies. It's problem the best he's played in a long time. But it is a clay and he did have time on his shots. This is the first time this year he has won 5 matches in a row. :giggle: I don't think he was very impressive. He was good in parts but overall he is still very inconsistent with his level. But it is definitely an improvement from the usual clay court swing. At least he is fighting it out. He totally gave up against Novak at RG which was very unlike Nadal. There was definite improvement in Nadal. There was slightly more zip in his forehands and he was fighting hard for points. Fognini is no push over, more so for Nadal, so in the end good victory. Since losing first set to Verdasco in opening round he won 10 sets consecutively which is something you can hardly expect from Rafa nowadays. Overall it turned out to be good call to participate in this tournament. Good improvement. Probably looking best in whole 2015.

Raghav_12
Nadal loses to Nishikori in what turned out to be a lop sided quarter-final. I don't think he is going to come back at top level, ever again. There are no easy ways of staying at top. Only way is by being good. He can hit around with all 50 ranked players and keep winning all year long but that will come to nought when he would run into top 5. Things were looking fine until yesterday and he was at 7 matches streak. But as soon as he hit first top 10 players whole construction came down crashing before it could become a building. He must change his coach. Got nothing to lose now.

The serve completely deserted him, otherwise it would have been a close match. He was much better off the ground than he has been all year. Raghav_12
After a pulsating final in Montreal, Murray emerged winner against Djokovic to take Rogers Cup home. Muarray defeated him after losing to him in 7 straight matches. Djokovic lost 4th match of the year - Karlovic, Federer, Warrinka being earlier ones. Raghav_12
Finally murray had a win over djoker after long time. Murray looks good for another US open title. He does actually. He showed great mental fortitude in saving 9 break points in a single game in third set. Game lasted 18 mins. Murray eventually managed to hold and went to win the match. bones
Nadal fans, can you really dispute the argument that he has a superior H2H primarily because he is often not there in the business end of tournaments to face the others when they are in better form. Look at this year for example, Djokovic and Federer in far better and more consistent form, getting to SFs and Finals regularly, but Nadal is nowhere to be seen. That's why the H2H bullshit should be scrapped once and for all, means horse **** to anyone with common sense.

bones
Epic comeback by murray. Stan vs Djoker:nervous: Both Murray and Djokovic yesterday did nothing special to win their matches, Djokovic especially looks bored right now. Their opponents mentally disintegrated. Yes Nadal is going through a very tough year after 10 years on top. We all can see that. He still has almost as many ATP points at this point as Federer had in the whole year of 2013 and he is still 6 or 7 in the race despite such a poor year. He has played Djokovic 40+ times and Federer 30+ times over 10 years so it is not just a few matches he chooses when he is at his best. In fact Federer was the favorite going into many of the matches that Nadal ended up winning which of course you wouldn't know because you only started following the game in 2011. So is this a new excuse after all the ones we have been hearing about for years? In an individual sport, when we talk about great rivalries H2H would always come into discussion. You can't just scrap the records you don't like lol.

You can't just scrap the records you don't like lol.[/quote'] Once again you completely miss the point and go off on a brainless rant. Question for you. When Federer and Djokovic were contesting for many of the big tournaments this year, where was Nadal? At AO, Djokovic and Nadal were seeded opposite halves, so a final is where they would have met. Djokovic was there, where was Nadal? It's the same for so many slams and tournaments all over the world that are not on clay and it's the same for several years. Let's use the Djokovic-Nadal example, 23-21, very close in the H2H. 9-4 in slams, 6 of those wins for Nadal are at RG, his favourite tournament. But Djokovic leads 4-3 elsewhere. You and I both know had they played more in the other tournaments that H2H would be more like 28-23 Djokovic and about 9-7 or 9-8 in slams. Djokovic is there ready to face Djokovic, where is Nadal? That's why H2H records are completely misleading. But H2H is 0.5% of the equation. Masters and other titles are about 0.5%. But 99% of the equation is slam titles.
