India needs Separate Test & ODI Teams

We play too many matches in Tests,ODIs and T20s plus IPL to be successful in all forms .OVer a metter of 4 years, 15 overseas test defeats and now no.7 place in tests is enough time to take some hard decisions and remolve inconsistant performers who perform once in ten innings to keep their place in the side.Future Test and ODI squads should not have more than 2-3 common players.Here is the proposed squads: Tests : 1. Murali Vijay 2. KL Rahul 3. Chesteshwar Pujara 4. Virat Kohli © 5. Ajinkya Rahane (v/c) 6. Ravichandran Ashwin 7. Wriddhiman Saha(W) 8. Rishi Dhawan 9. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar 10. Check his ODI stats ..he was our best T20 bowler in 2012 T20 worldcup with best economy rate and was dropped for no reaso n ..can't be crappier than the lot we have now :finger:

Dinda had highest wickets in a Ranji season not long ago. Rohit has most runs in Ranji season's It's like saying a run accumulator like David Hussey is better than Steve Smith cause he got more runs in Sheffield shield and was more consistent in domestic cricket. It's like that...but for test level you have to consider potential. If a bowler is good enough in Ranji to a certain level that should be enough and rest should be down to potential and potential only. Something Dhawan does not have at his Binny pace. Going by your method we should never have picked guys like Vijay, Yadav, Kohli cause they didn't have the best batting or bowling averages in Ranji.... not the best way to go about it.

I am not saying stats are the only way to go about picking players..but India needs a bowling allrounder in foreign condition and Rishi Dhawan is the way to go ..he is a Mitch Marsh/James Faulkner kind of player and will lend balance as 3rd/4th seamer to do containing job ..his batting average is also in 40's IK believe ..In home series, a spin-bowling allrounder like Parvez Rasool or Ashwin is good enough in place of RD..

Yes ..same guys laugh when likes of Sehwag and Warner get into Test teams and everyone said they are ODI/T20 players ...BALAJI IS ONE OF THE BEST DEATH OVERS BOWLER IN INDIA AS DEMONSTRATED IN 2012 T20 WC and NUMEROUS IPL SLOG OVERS . We have always struggled in death overs .Therefore, I see a case for his return .

This won't work, because there is a massive financial incentive imbalance between playing Tests and ODIs. I don't even think players who get dropped from Tests care much, but pride, reputation/fame and earning potentials (tv ads, World Cup, IPL, clt20) are on the line if they get dropped from ODIs.

Ahhh ..so commercials take precedence over test performance..:hitler: I would go for paying a hefty premium for test matches so that these test experts make up for the same ..Guys like Michael Clarke , Johnson and others reliquished IPL contracts in the first few years to up their game in tests.. Also, unless someone is not their in test team should not be given Grade A contracts ..:hatsoff:

Separate Test team idea's time has really come . Good performance of KL Rahul and Raina's continued failure in tests is validating the same even today.
