Shikhar Dhawan at number 6?

Shikhar Dhawan at number 6?

  1. 1.

    • Drop him from tests altogether
      2
    • Move him to number 6 in place of Rohit
      6
    • Continue him as opener- he will eventually come good

Apart from his debut test- Shikhar in the second innings at Brisbane displayed rare dominance of a test bowling attack. He has consistently achieved this in ODIS. He has been unlucky at times but at present the evidence points to him not being suited to opening in tests. Scoring 187 on debut never helps as expectations are immediately upon you and there is not settling in period. but what I saw of him in the second innings at Brisbane was something special. The ball was much softer, lost its shine and was not moving......his see ball hit ball approach worked beautifully. Batting At number 6, the ball will more often than not be in a similar softish state. And one can't compare his batting failures with Rohit's as Shikhar has played at the top of the order and faced the toughest conditons. Maybe we should put Shikhar at 6 and make kl Rahul open?

Lokesh Rahul could be given a run kick Roiht sharma out.. He can play at 6. But i doubt that is going to happen. This was an one off scenario where he had to bat at 6 and he came good. Will he come good every time? That we cannot be certain. By now we should have a settled line up.

Dhawan is specialist opener. If he is failing in this position he should be dropped from squad & made to play in Ranji,so that he can rectify his faults & make a good comeback.

We need to be flexible. Joe Burns is opener to, I guess but will bat in middle order for Aus.

Team management should develop 1 good wicket keeper batsman ie Naman,Samson to bat at no 6 & pace bowling allrounder Rishi Dhawan to bat at no 7 in future to nurture chances of winning overseas tests

Should be tried
