India won at Lords because Ishant picked a 7fer and Bhuvi took a 6fer India put up a fight of sorts in Lord 2011 because Ishant picked up a 4fer and Praveen took a 5fer India drew a match in SA (and came close to winning) when Zak and Ishant picked up 4fers each. The only match in Oz 2012 in which India put up a fight - Zak and Umesh picked 4fer When Bhuvi took a 6fer at Nottingham, India drew the test. India drew at Capetown when Sreesanth picked a 5fer. India won in SA when Sreesanth took a tremendous 5fer. and so on. The formula for winning/drawing a match abroad against a top team is a) the batting should compete with the opposition b) A fast bowler picks up a 4fer or 5fer at a reasonable average/strike rate, the odds of win/draw increase if another fast bowler picks up wickets too. If these two do not happen, then the spinners cannot do a damn thing. Our pace bowlers rarely have the opposition on the mat, when the bowling conditions are conducive to them, and we now expect spinners to win the matches for us?

Most of those were pace friendly tracks. On true wickets like on this tour, no Indian has really done well.

Our fast bowlers depend a lot of surface providing them assistant. Depend on miracle deliveries rather than consistency. This concept is alien to them. Even our best bowler Zaheer was never consistent.

Ashwin is our best spin bowler. How the mighty have fallen :(( Once upon a time Rajinder Goel,Padmakar Shivalkar and Doshi couldn't break their way into the side because of the quartet. Even Kumble,Bhajji were decent , but now...............

Australia have Lyon and NZ too have spinners who maintain pressure. You are confusing a spinner who keeps pressure versus a Warne/Murali.
