HippoSucks Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Kohli's (and others') aggression is hurting us Not only is Kohli's (and overall the rest of the Indian team's) agression against the spirit of the game, it is in many cases costing us the game. The first case in point isn't really aggression towards a player, but mindlessly agressive decision making and lust for glory. Kohli somehow decided that he wanted to win a match which was impossible for us to win (1st test in Adelaide). In doing so, he brought us real close to winning and at least to a stage where we can't lose. Unfortunately, due to this winning mindset, he (and the rest of the players) hit some stupid shots. What was the result? A loss. The next example's culprit is primarily Rohit. In the second test at Brisbane, we had caused a mild collapse in the Australian batting and probably were going to restrict them to under 300 (what a miracle!). Unfortunately, our arrogant players decided to anger Johnson. The result? Him making a fifty off some 40 odd balls, and them going from something like 267/6 to 508. The next instance of this is just plain stupidity. Johnson very rightly hits Kohli accidentally while aiming for the stumps. He [Johnson] immediately goes and apologizes. However, our aggressive captain decided to get into a war of words with a guy who went 40/7 last year after being angered. Not to mention that they already saw the consequence of angering Johnson before. Thankfully, Johnson still didn't get in to his superman mode and we were able to draw the match. Nonetheless this was a very bad show of sportsmanship. Another instance of this happened at a time which I can't recall, but I believe it was the first test. Warner got out and Kohli and the bowler gave him a rude send off. It turns out to be a no ball (another extra, great!) and then Warner comes back and retaliates. After all this, our great captain goes in a press conference and has the nerve to say that the some of the Australian players (mainly Johnson and Warner) have lost his respect. The irony of it all! What is worse is that now we are criticizing Starc (an extremely friendly player) for a mild sendoff.

coffee_rules Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 ^ TBH, Starc's sendoff was no way different from Ishant's. But Ishant got a fine...Starc as usual goes free.

HippoSucks Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 You said Starc's was a mild one..It was certainly not. You have to look at the circumstances. Starc has been under performing, and he got an inform batsman out on the third ball of the Indian innings. Obviously he was very excited. The Indian sendoffs were dumb because Warner and Australia had made a big score and they were still celebrating so much.

You do not get fined for circumstances you get fined for send off .. Even if it was big score there was chirping going on so it's fair after bowler got batsman out he will show excitement . And third ball of Indian inning means batsman did not even say anything and there was not even tension between them so it's totally uncalled for going by your logic l

I never said there was tension between them. But getting an excellent batsman so early in the game is definitely exciting.

But getting an excellent batsman so early in the game is definitely exciting. Sure but what did batsman do to deserve send off ? Just batted well in past ? Keep in mind the batsman you are talking about here normally ignores everything and just bats :winky:
HippoSucks Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Sure but what did batsman do to deserve send off ? Just batted well in past ? Keep in mind the batsman you are talking about here normally ignores everything and just bats :winky: I don't think there was any animosity from Starc's side. He was just really excited and did that. He and Vijay have had no past whatsoever, and Starc is known to be a very nice guy.

So giving a send-off to Warner for getting him out after a century is more called for than removing a great batsman (Vijay) for a duck?
Old guy Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 So giving a send-off to Warner for getting him out after a century is more called for than removing a great batsman (Vijay) for a duck? Is that what I said ? I am talking about vijay getting send off who never sledgesfor nod man reason while Warner atleast was playing there for some time and there was chirping ongoing on and this guy ha shistory to getting into fights too . Same way I will understand kohli getting send off after what happened in series but sending vijay off was totally uncalled for just because got rid of him early .
Number Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 So giving a send-off to Warner for getting him out after a century is more called for than removing a great batsman (Vijay) for a duck? You agree Warner is not as great as Vijay. :P

And I'm not saying sendoffs are good if it is due to rivalry, but this honestly looked to me like it was just a sudden surge of excitement for Starc.
Darth Bane Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Aggression is good nothing wrong with it, but not when it's over the top and not when you can't back it up, Kohli is ok but the rest of the team don't know how to back it up.
coffee_rules Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 ^ TBH' date=' Starc's sendoff was no way different from Ishant's. But Ishant got a fine...Starc as usual goes free.[/quote'] My bad. Just checked a youtube video of Ishant's. He mouthed off expletives. That was uncalled for. Our guys are dumb to be caught on screen..They should hide it like the Ozzies.

In fact, they give the usually calm (in Tests) game a competitive edge. But most of the time it ends up going over the top with players indulging in use of profane language and whatnot. It shouldn't exceed a smile or a taunt here and there.

How do you measure that ? How do u know our players were not excited after getting batsman who is smashing them and ha smashed most teams out after 100 after bit of banter and sledging going on through out hate series ? Seriously if you feel starc was fine then you cannot create thread questioning aggression of India onlymdifference is that australia who are playing at home won but it does not justify their aggression neither does it proves kohli or anyone was wrong . Rogit did not cause any collapse Johnson did connecting it with sledging is just dumb it's skill of Johnson along with some weak lower order batting and it happened through out the series vs England it's nothing new blaming being agressive on it makes no sense . You even said what Indians are doing is against spirit of game and also leading to loses ..I mean why such double standards ?saptarc is good hpguy getting good wicket so it's within spirit of game ? :hysterical:

I think these days it's going a bit over the top with the abuse.
