We have to decide which way our society gotta go. Freedom of speech , freedom of thought, or regressive religious beliefs. Its a constant fight, challenge against religion (particularly Islam because they take god seriously more than any other religious groups). There is no bigger god than humanity. The day they understand this, this world will be a heaven to live. Our society doesnt have real freedom of speech. They can go and live in conservative countries where other religious people are even banned to pray in public. It's like choosing to watch porn and then cry that it hurts their sensibilities. If they cannot tolerate freedom-of-expression act of that country then they better get out and stay somewhere else. Probably, they can stay in a country where 130 kids were killed for god knows what reason or where an unarmed 10-12 year old girl was shot at point blank because she wanted education for herself and all other girls in her community or a country where guy got arrested for teaching Yoga/Meditation. Lets say somebody makes a Cartoon of an Hindu deity sodomising another... I chose to ignore it. But the media starts discussing it. Then I hear/read/ see people from other faith and atheists discussing and telling people that its normal, nothing wrong and one shouldn't protest. The Cartoonist also says that I don't feel respecting Hindu deities and I'll keep on drawing more cartoons. Who are you to stop me? So you are recommending to ignore everything, switch off the telly etc. Cutoff from the World? Or do you want me to just ignore everything and don't feel any offence against anybody ridiculing my faith? For examples take your example. You feel very strongly about people suffering from depression. Lets say if somebody ridicules them but I hope you'll just ignore him and not feel offended... Is that what you are saying? I thought about it and this is what I call "I feck all women but my sister is a virgin" phenomenon. They want to have sex, drink, do all kind of stuff and at the same time make sure that their sister is ganga ki tarhan pavitr and they marry a virgin. I have seen it in a lot of people, including Indians. They boast about how they used to get laid since they were in year 10 but then they accompany their sisters when they go out to meet their fiance even 3 days before the wedding. Its the same logic. Yes, unlike Charlie libido or whatever, he chose to paint only hindu gods. Wish has painted Mary or some other apostle in a bad way as well? He complained of lack of freedom of expression in India and chose to live in a place where freedom of expression is never heard of. I got angry, but I wouldn't want to kill him for any reason. I dont go threaten or protest in front of the white house for shutting down mental hospitals or even if that is done, its fine, its freedom of speech.
