Hope' date= at least, Aaron gets better quickly in a year or so. Dont want both of our quickest pacers fade away. Becoming pessimistic now. you're talking like we're spoilt for choices. You want to go back to the Pankaj, Vinay, Munaf etc.? These guys have shown potential, we should stick with them till they come good

These guys have shown potential, we should stick with them till they come good Munaf's career record, both in FC and Tests, is better than Varun Marshall Aaron. And I do't think we should go back to the names you mentioned - try Sandeep, Rishi, etc.

f.b.m Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 The basic problem is that he lacks experience bowling with a hard ball. IIRC he only started bowling with a cricket ball at the age of 19-20. A 27 year old from Australia would have bowled many thousands of overs in age group, grade and FC cricket and would know how to bowl to and stick to a plan. May be quite a rudimentary plan but it all adds up. At least its experience bowling on a pitch thats 22 yards long and has the stumps of a certain size. Basically an Australian and an Indian making their FC debuts come from very different starting points. To some extent you could overcome that would top level coaching and mentoring but there's no getting around the basic facts. Also it seems to me like Umesh is not the smartest person in the world. Again, the right advice might help but you can't just inject 15 IQ points into a person somehow. I still think that he is one of the best options we've got for the long run despite being 'limited' in quite a few ways. Its the same problem with someone like Nuwan Pradeep as well.

If it's all about intelligence, a 10th fail wouldn't have become the best batsman in the world. Our bowlers are lacking in temperament. You need as much concentration while bowling as you need in batting. You lose concentration and you will stray. Our bowlers are pretty much like those batsmen who lose patience and concentration and throw their wickets away.

Every bowler knows where to bowl, but execution is what matters. It needs ability, practice, concentration to bowl that area ball after ball. You read Yadav and Shami's interview and they talk all good but not able to execute it on the field which means they aren't putting enough hardwork in the nets. At least, bowling in one area doesnt need a great IQ. It is the basic that you cant bowl both sides of the wicket but if you haven't practiced enough, no matter how much you try, you wont be able to do it in the match. These guys must stop that obsession of playing football and rather practice their bowling for which they are picked to play. They need a Sunil Gavaskar in the team management instead of Ravi Shastri who can improve their work ethics.
