prasadiyer Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Sehwag is right! Our final is the Pakistan match. Showing up for the match is like semi-final for us.
The Outsider Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 where did I say? Never compared the two' date=' but that inning is highly exaggerated. Also, you are comparing how Dhawan playing in Australia to how Sehwag played at home in ODIs. Dont thin Sehwag has any great record in ODIs in Aus despite touring 3 times.[/quote'] How is it exaggerated? In one of the highest stakes cricket match ever, Sehwag decimated the best opposition bowler to the extent he bowled rubbish to Raina as well? As for ratings, Viv Richards rates him among the top 10 ODI batsmen ever. He might not be in that club but is certainly not some average Joe in ODIs either.

I am not saying he was an average ODI batsman. Problem is people start talking like when current batsmen fail like he would win us WC if he was in the WC team. He has a mediocre record in Australia, averaging 17 against Aus in 12 ODIs and 20 odd against other oppositions and then people compare his innings played in India to other batsmen's innings played in Australia. Yaar, most Indian batsmen will bat well in Indian conditions. We have not lost an ODI series in India in last few years. So, anyone who plays there scores runs. Sehwag didn't do anything special by scoring those 38 runs. Raina's 30 odd at the end, when game could have gone away from us, was a far significant innings and made the difference in a score of 230 and 260.
