Switchblade Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/i-am-sure-india-will-make-it-to-the-semifinals-says-virender-sehwag/ “I am sure India will make it to the semifinals and after that it would depend on how they play on a particular day,†said Sehwag. “Besides India, I think Australia, South Africa and New Zealand would make the semis,†he said. “I don’t think the team will be much affected with their recent performances. Everyone will give their 100 per cent effort during the World Cup and recent results may not have any influence,†Sehwag insisted. “Just before the 2003 World Cup, India had a disastrous tour of New Zealand and everyone thought that we won’t do well in South Africa. But we ended up making it to the finals,†said Sehwag during the launch of a special show by 92.7 BIG FM ‘Cricket ka Big Headquarter’. “Players will have to identify their problems. I am sure all they of them must be working hard to and preparing well for the World Cup and some of them would come out with flying colours.â€
vijay50 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 We miss you Sehwagji. Instead We have Rohit inconsistent sharma and slow poke Rayudu playing this WC. Who can forget the effing you gave to Gul in last WC.
vvvslaxman Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 In 2003 world cup squad we did not have Rayudu
Mindreader Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Matches not played on paper so only aus nz make it to semi, other 2 would be different

Austin 3:!6 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 We miss you Sehwagji. Instead We have Rohit inconsistent sharma and slow poke Rayudu playing this WC. Who can forget the effing you gave to Gul in last WC. Ah great memories of that Phainta he gave to Gul. Mike Artherton "This is Sehwag effect. A bowler coming into this match in prime form and in a matter of what 3 overs he has lost it, lost his run up...don't know where to bowl. Sehwag has hit him on both on and off side. Very quickly they need to get a grip of it..both Afridi and umar gul" Ramiz Raja " This is what Sehwag can do to the opposition. Very soon Pakistan following Plan B" Ravi Shastri "No Ball...another four. Umar Gul now have to think...he has been made to think. He need to think even more the next ball as its a free hit. It could easily be 6 boundaries in the over" What memories.. what an opener. And now we have Hackwan :(:(:(:(

The Realist Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Made it worth getting up early to watch his swashbuckling innings. Now have to endure a hack top three of hackhit, hackwan & hackyudu
G_B_ Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 In 2003 world cup squad we did not have Rayudu we had dinesh mongia..... what we dont have at the top of the order is a sachin tendulkar who can carry the batting.

It was not like he hit those boundaries on some unplayable or great deliveries. He was gone once he got a good one from Riyaz. Dhawan is as capable of punishing such bad deliveries.
Precambrian Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Made it worth getting up early to watch his swashbuckling innings. Now have to endure a hack top three of hackhit, hackwan & hackyudu  why the "y"? Hackudu sounds fine, and cute as well :icflove:
Zestian Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Umar Gul bowled poorly as simple as that. It was not like he hit those boundaries on some unplayable or great deliveries. He was gone once he got a good one from Riyaz. Dhawan is as capable of punishing such bad deliveries. So you mean current Dhawan = Viru of that time ? :omg: :hysterical: :cantstop:
Zestian Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I would say Even today, Sehwag is capable of giving a quick fire start by 25-30 runs in 20-25 balls. Sehwag for me is always > Dhawan. :hatsoff:

rkt.india Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 So you mean current Dhawan = Viru of that time ? :omg: :hysterical: :cantstop: where did I say? Never compared the two, but that inning is highly exaggerated. Also, you are comparing how Dhawan playing in Australia to how Sehwag played at home in ODIs. Dont thin Sehwag has any great record in ODIs in Aus despite touring 3 times.
rkt.india Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Sehwag made him bowl poorly. Why didn't he make Riyaz bowl poorly then?
