Srilanka-strike bowler in his twilight and no other bowling resources,Lack of power hitters in the middle order. WI-Inconsistency and lack of fighting spirit,lack of concentration in a 50 over game. Australia-Not even a single half decent spinner in the line up. South Africa-Weak 4th and 5th bowler,No decent spinner,In experienced and inconsistent middle order. On Paper Newzealand and England in terms of team combo seem to have the best allround team but with England-Lack of experience obviously so that leaves us with Newzealand-Can we say a little inconsistent top order bar WIlliamson?

They have a Wicket Keeper who is a decent attacking batsman, Decent Spinner and Allrounder in Ali,Pace bowling allrounder in Woakes,World class proven performers like Broad and Anderson,Class batsman top of the order like Bell,And a bowler who can hit 150 in Finn and 2 very good LOI players in Morgan and Bopara. How they play as a team might hurt them but on paper they look pretty good.

Maxwell is a decent spinner. I can't believe you are rating the England team better than Australia... The top order is slightly inconsistent, but they make a big score if even one of Guptill, McCullum, Williamson and Taylor gets off (which happens more often than not).

Just 5 months ago, England was considered to be the weakest ODI team, losing 4-1 to India at home. They may seem to be a decent team on paper, but no way the are goign to go all the way through.

Pakistan: Opening combination , Inexperience bowling ,Younis Khan. SL: No consistent opening partner of Dilshan , Lower order batting , weak bowling with Malinga just coming in after hiatus. WI: Too many sloggers for a 50 over match. Weak bowling without Narine Australia: Lack of a decent spinner Saffers: Lower middle order . NZ:Opening combination . England: Lack of big hitters , Ravi Bopara.
Scarves Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Australia is simple. The whole Clarke saga. Too many captains in one team. If Clarke plays then Bailey is out and Bailey has been captain for so long. Then if Clarke comes mid-way it throws the team balance off.

Also, they don't have good record in big tournaments post 2010 ICC T-20 world cup, have been failing regularly. Pakistan - fielding, which is obvious, cannot chase targets, cannot rotate strikes. This time, they don't have pace battery. Sri lanka - lack of resrouces New zealand - don't have big tournament temperament, chris carins type of innings comes once in generation. Will make it to semis though West Indies - can be considered minnows in this world cup. Their players enjoy T-20 now. For them, 50 overs is equivalent to test cricket. South Africa - anything to say? they fail to win the matches which matter most. England - Despite all the hype, they will fail in quarter finals.

Their performances in big tournaments has not been good since 2012 T-20. Even in 2011 WC, they exited.
