Need help. I am using a Airtel provided Binatone ADSL2+ modem and a Netgear WIFI router. Now this modem is pretty **** i presume because i am having alot of network issues including playing online using my PS3. So i have decided to buy a ADSL2 Wifi combo. I have heard that Netgear combo modems has an issue re connecting to the internet automatically if connection drops for any reason.TP-Link has poor CC. Kya karun?Suggest me a good one.

@OP: Netgear DGN 1000series modems were good.. where did you get the info on this? Suggest you to buy something with VDSLx capability if you are planning to stick on to your service provider .. Netgear DGN 2500 series / Huawei modems are good and compatible with your current service

I have heard router + modem combo suck. Charter discontinued that here.
Where did you get this info? Most designs are moving towards an integrated modem+router combo..infact the latest ones act as a residential gateway with a dect phone/iptv processor/11ac packet processing engine

yep.. it has a brcm chipset . you can buy any ADSL2+ modem from the market, but would suggest you to buy a newer one which works for VDSL2. Their availability in India is limited though. Sagemcom/BT Homehub5 are some of the best in class

Charter Cable service used to provide combo.. They stopped giving combo after several complaints. They give seperate modem and router.

netgear is a well designed modem.. especially for space constrained while TP-link has 3 years warranty .I am also not sure about parental control configurability on the TP-Link modem itself. http://www.flipkart.com/router/compare?ids=RTRDFFYG3HZJRTYV,RTRDFFYGZTHEAFYH,RTRDGGQ754BDWH7U Check the comparision for the above modems you have mentioned... I will leave the decision to you:two_thumbs_up:

TP Link has 5dbi antenna Netgear 2dbi Will that make a difference? Also i found a Asus and a Zyxel modem router as well. What do you think about them? http://www.flipkart.com/router/compare?ids=RTRDFFYG3HZJRTYV,RTRDGGQ754BDWH7U,RTRE2V3Y6FWVHDW5,RTRDHYYVXHYG93NF

that comparision says 2dBi each for Netgear & 5dBi for TP-Link.. it should help to have higher power for extended reach.

A modem + router combo is a package of chipset/configuration software(like NAT,Firewall)/components on the PCB.. so one has to look at all those before going ahead to buy. I have never used Asus modem, but Zyxel should be good
